ill.Gates presents his second sampler to his forthcoming album, Departures. This time featuring world renowned drummer / percussionist Ben Walsh playing the dulcimer and @katiasmusic providing the soulful vocals. Danidoo played the flute samples. 

Mad props to everyone over at Paradise One in Australia. 

Bamboo was mostly composed in Australia and Jamaica on a global pilgrimage by ill.Gates that generated much of the Departures and Terminally ILL material. The last stop on the trip was Bamboo Bass festival in Costa Rica. Katia's vocals were recorded outdoors on a rainy night in the bush. If you listen closely you can still hear the raindrops.

Today is a special day, I finally get to share with you guys an artist I found scrolling through the desolate music section on twitch https://soundcloud.com/im_carter this man has not only become a great friend of mine but also constantly amazes me every time I tune in to watch him produce. This tune "Your Love" is everything I love about love, it feels like the butterfly feeling you get driving home from your first date, or the night before a big vacation. This song was inspired by the moodboard I got and what we saw with it was an underground vibe with the neon lights and the dark rooms.  We liked the trapped vocals, it matched the overall vibe we were trying to achieve.  We tried making sounds that sort of matched the night time feel with the guitar that I recorded. And the dark, grimy basses R4ID made. We think it worked out really well in the end!

NEXY CONTEST: R4ID & PRETTY GORY  - TRAPPED

We were inspired by the Chinese sociological concept of Face: how the world perceives your honor and integrity. The contrast between one's outward Face and the dark musings of their inner soul is explored in this melodic banger. Enjoy.

Our mood board encompasses two major themes -- donuts and European culture. We found two ways to rectify this conceptual conflict:

Firstly, Tuzi used a playful, 80's-esque synth chord layer and upbeat vibe in the intro and bridge to represent the cheerful future funk aesthetic that our mood board emulates. Secondly, taking inspiration from the Greek mythological figure Medusa in our mood board, KRYO embraced the Greek philosophy of Hedonism and delivered a series of heavy, yet varied drops that represent its self-fulfilling nature. We hope you enjoy this track!

This track was made for Nexy's first ever Rail-Gang contest. My partner got caught up with work so I decided to progress with this myself!

Nexy assigned us a moodboard, I got donuts.
When I hear donut, I think of the extacy of the first bite. Feeling the rythm of the sugar dissolve through your blood and the rush. My goal was to make a dancy track full of energy to fit this vibe,
