For ava. records, the sky's the limit, as you'll hear in the latest Carhartt WIP Radio show, bringing together a mix of house, techno, soul, hip hop, funk, jazz and disco. Established by the Cologne-based DJ and producer Damiano von Erckert in 2011, the label's roster consists of artists such as Christopher Rau, Ugly Drums, Andy Vaz, and Tito Wun aka Twit One (one half of Testiculo Y Uno that brought you the Carhartt WIP Radio Show from August 2013). The multicoloured ava. catalogue also includes musicians as varied as  L.A-based, neo-soul vocalist, Georgia Anne Muldrow. For Carhartt WIP Radio, Damiano von Erckert mixes a selection of old and new ava. records, special remixes, tracks from his latest EP “Giant Pandas And Other Nice Things In Life”, along with other rarities that will make hip hop heads just as happy as club music devotees.

DENA - Summer Doesn't Mean A Thing (prod. by Robot Koch)

The first track, “Murder Tune”, is aptly named. Tribal drums flow through the track filling listeners with the distinct and unsettling feeling that they are not only lost in a Forest, but have suddenly gone from hunter to hunted. Heavy doses of deep synth stylings penetrate the track, and unique twists on classic Dub vocal samplings fill the empty spaces, which adds to its status as a true head-banger. The track seems to move in stages, bringing the listener into and out of a haunting kind of euphoria before dropping us into a melee of buzz-saw synths.

The title track “Snake” brings us face-to-face with the realization that what hunts us is what we fear the most. Beginning with a sinister vocal narrative of the “Snake”, it slowly builds to a climax until the beat hits like a direct strike. The toxic bass of “Snake” rips through the skull and races through the body. Intermittent Hardstyle sections increase the complexity by breaking up the Dubstep beat structure and then moving us into the next phase of the track. The result is a frenetic state of bass driven insanity.

Disco Mind heads all the way to South America for this next outing with Colombian duo Vagabundo Club Social at the helm, having previously impressed on the likes of Razor n Tape. 'El Gato' kicks off with bright, expressive disco horns and fat, low-slung drums that draw your hips right in. 'Yim Zalzedo' has another thick-set rhythm and this time the horns take a back seat to the percussion and jazzy keys and congas. 'Tabu' flips the vibes and taps into a revivalist 90s house sound with piano chords getting hands in the air, then 'Adicto Al Limon' shuts down with a perfect uplifting and feel good Balearic house sound with a classic Chic bassline.
