Justin Cudmore and Hiroko Yamamura come together for a new EP entitled ‘Midwest Panic’ on HE.SHE.THEY. that perfectly encapsulates their shared queer scene experiences and formative years growing up in Chicago HE.SHE.THEY return with 2021 pick me up courtesy of  H.S.T. family favourites Justin Cudmore and Hiroko Yamamura. Following killer releases on The Bunker NY, Honey Soundsystem, and Phonica Records, Justin Cudmore teams up with Chicago legend Hiroko Yamamura for an acid-tinged and jacking ode to the Midwest rave. Long-time friend Hiroko is known for her slick releases on Planet E, Impact Mechanics, and Afro Acid. Together, Justin and Hiroko have played B2B sets in Brooklyn and Chicago and hope to bring new energy to the dancefloor as parties and events open this Summer 2021. Heartthrob, aka Jesse Siminski, also from the Midwest, provides a powerful and deep remix to round out the release. A Midwest-born and raised DJ, Justin has played at queer parties such as Wrecked, Queen!, The Carry Nation, Horse Meat Disco, Honcho and Club Toilet has gained a following worldwide with appearances at clubs like Smartbar, Panorama Bar, Razzmatazz, DC10 and Lux Fragil. Heralded by XLR8R as one of Chicago’s top 10 DJs, Hiroko has toured the globe spreading the sounds of Chicago, including gigs at the famed Detroit Movement Festival and being in regular rotation across Europe, including Berlin France and Ibiza enjoying time behind the decks recently at venues such as Amnesia, Database, Diez Warehouse and Radion as an example. Currently the main resident at Chicago’s legends Spybar, as well as participating in the city’s revitalized underground resurgence. She actively contributes jacking Chicago techno with an edge all its own, along with her like-minded colleagues and collaborators, including Black Asteroid, Seth Troxler, Hyperactive, Angel Alanis, Dani Ramos and Submerge.  EP Opener 'Midwest Panic' is a textbook warehouse track. It's raw, dirty and rugged, with acid lines, prickly drums and jacked up percussion all working you into a sweat. The fantastic 'I'm Not A Trip, I'm A Journey' is another visceral, full-body workout with more manic acid, angular drums and freaky synths that grow increasingly wild and impactful. Long time techno mainstay Heartthrob then remixes 'Midwest Panic' into a stripped back and spooky roller, with haunting synth designs and occult effects making for an unsettling piece of atmospheric techno. Last of all is 'Midwest Panic' (Please No Acid Dub) which has elastic drums and lithe metallic synths contorting and twisting for six arresting minutes.

In the digital age, words are no longer just symbols of communication, but a powerful tool that gives rise to meaningful interconnections between different universes.  

Words have the power to transcend time and space, connecting two souls destined to meet. 

Il Significato delle Parole (the meaning of words) is Adiel's new effort on her Danza Tribale, a crossover of two minds, generated together with musician Flavio Accorinti: techno sounds like the restless soul that pervades our days, deconstructed atmospheres like shattered generational dreams. The fusion of two cosmic currents, two ways of thinking and creating, characterized by an immanent power, pushing us to imagine new urban primitivism. Two creative processes, transcending individual boundaries to connect into a single overarching vision, to explore new forms of art and storytelling. 

The EP, mixed by Donato Dozzy and mastered at Rome's Enisslab Studio by Giuseppe Tillieci, starts with Nulla Resta, a defragmented, dreamlike, ascending climax markedly cyberpunk: dense with references to 90s Progressive Dream, Nulla Resta, with its dulcet melodies, transports us to an artificial reality, a spiritual reality albeit dominated by technology. A reality suspended between  fantasy and materialism. 
Suspended, like the second track (Sospesa): dark trip-hop’s echoes adorned by the voice of Jordie Devlin Mcmorrow. "Shadows on the walls orchestrate our downfall." Dystopian futures intertwine with mysteriously dreamy pasts in a fatal spiral of redemption. 
But words remain the catalysing element of this EP. 
Parole (words) represents a communicative rarefaction that embraces tribes near and far. Black drums echo in the distance in an intimate ballad, in an epic ride, in an ethereal metaphysical journey to the dissolution of the boundary between time and space, between memory and perception.  
Notturna, on the other hand, is the epilogue we all deserve; a solemn twilight, a lysergic, dragging escape from the objectivity of the real world.  

The images of life do not simply exist in a vacuum. They are defined by the energy that surrounds them, and it is the explanation behind each of these words that we must find if we are to truly understand them. Thanks to the meaning of words, sooner or later, we will be all united again.

It’s that time of the year again. Another SUM package is here and, as always, spans a vast expanse of artists from newcomers to heavy hitters who provide sounds from dark, hard edged cuts to grooving euphoric treks.

With hi octane numbers like VNTM & Tahko’s ‘Rave Culture’ and Risa Taniguchi’s ‘Ridiculous’ the compilation takes off before the maestro Nick Curly’s ‘Refuge’ and JNO’s ‘Relief’, who just released his first EP on Second State, take matters into deeper, low slung territory. Industrialyzer’s ‘Pulse’ certainly picks up the pace again as Ilija Djokovic’s ‘Chimera’ and Frazier’s ‘Escapism’ blend the lines between post modern production techniques and classic rave sounds. Turning into the back half of the compilation we have the wicked vibes of Flug’s ‘Maschine’ and Fabio Florido’s ‘Upsurge’ pave the way for newcomers Emanate’s mesmerizing ‘Again & Again’. Wrapping up the twelve tracker are ‘Wiggle’, a wild track of the winner of this year’s Beats in School competition by Beatport and Second State, and the label’s mainstay BEC’s instant hit ‘Three Words’, resulting in a finely curated package that will deliver in any moment.

Oscar Mulero's DJ career has been as prolific and long lasting as the evolution of dance music. As a key figure in its development, Oscar has always absorbed new trends and kept his finger on the pulse of electronic dance music, from the end of the 80’s right up to the present day. It is impossible to understand his genius without taking into account the tireless work he has carried out behind the decks for over two decades. Production-wise he's been releasing records since the late 90’s, with countless 12" vinyls and several studio albums, as well as many remixes for the best players in the scene.

He runs Warm Up, his very own imprint, since 2000 as well as the label PoleGroup Records since 2004, both of which have reached the 50 releases mark. On 2013 he started a series of live A/V performances under several project names like Light and Dark, Biolive and Monochrome AV.

In 2019 he will celebrate his thirty-year career with a very special secret lineup party in Madrid that will be much talked about because of its concept and the quality of the guests.
