Last month, Bandcloud released Missives (https://soundcloud.com/bandcloud/sets/bandcloud-presents-missives), a compilation marking five years of the mailout. So far it has raised almost €700 for Irish charities Merchants Quay Ireland and Ana Liffey Drug Project.

The music is so special and varied it seemed appropriate to ask someone to mix it all together. The wonderful @ohpeach answered the call, and she's wrapped it all up with charm and style, giving the new music new life and context. Peach plays the Forbidden Fruit festival in Dublin on Sunday, June 2.

Bandcloud Presents Missives (Mixed by Peach)

For the second instalment of our podcast series we have the pleasure of introducing Palatijn. Inspired by the post-war concrete and cold architecture of suburban Maastricht’s appartment buildings, this alias is all about questioning rhythmic convention, going against the practicality that inspired these buildings designs while paying homage to their character. Incessantly moving back and forth between atmospheric, naturalist downtempo recordings and retro-futuristic drum ‘n bass and jungle, the latest podcast reflects on the contrast between Limburg’s meadowy landscapes and the former industrial glory of the larger Liege-Maastricht area with a nod to the ever more implicit Catholic character of the city. Though inscribed with recognisable rhythmic elements, the recording is cognizant of an experimental double entendre; that of the serendipitous intersection between eerie artificial structures and the generative warmth of organic environments.

Kynant EX is a new series for non-dancefloor focused records on hand-stamped vinyl. The first release comes from a legendary UK band, O Yuki Conjugate, who have been making unique experimental music since 1982. The duo have reworked their 2019 album track “Forgotten Summer” into a two-part, 12m45s epic, which starts broken-beat and ends with a five minute beatless sequence. The B-side houses two new tracks, the first is abrasive and full of dread, the second a bass-heavy ambient cut.

Available on 12” vinyl and digital from March 5, 2021.
