'Systems for a Score' was produced during the eponymous solo exhibition by Fari Bradley and Chris Weaver during their 11 month artist residency at Tashkeel, Dubai, UAE 2014-2015.

This album is the result of collaborations in their bespoke recording studio, central to the exhibition, titled 'A Model Studio'. For these sessions, UAE-based musicians, artists and school children improvised, interpreting traditional Emirati weave (Al Sadu) as graphic scores.

Tracing the Chora is a soundwalk through the interstices of Al Quoz conceived of and created by sound artists Fari Bradley and Chris Weaver. 

The chora is a space through which to decipher the reality of our surroundings. The walk observes Al Quoz's vastly different terrains through the eyes of those who have worked in the area for years. Narration and sound direct listeners on a one-hour journey that dissolves our experience of a boundary between the Avenue and its neighbourhood. The chora is a space of potentiality that promises more to come, and is traced here by the voices and sounds of a neighbourhood, markers of life amidst industry.

The commission is an Al Serkal programming commission.

It occurred to him that these instances of sensory recollection were somehow moulded into smaller, more fragile instances, and then again into smaller yet. They felt to him almost like a sense of temporary solidarity, or at least the encapsulation of it, as if he were seeing strangers repeatedly on a bus, or train, or plane. Built seemingly from images of light, embedded in mornings or early afternoons of play, perhaps. Through a cloud of events since, he could separate those images that were important from the unimportant, and imagine them, at a rate that puzzled him. He was certain, however, that a strange kind of duality existed in these etched micro-worlds, formed out of what he assumed was memory. With no way of being sure about this, he was in state in which these traces of air, soil and pavement were fueling something new and previously unfelt. It was concerned with time undoubtedly, but in the same way mown grass or drying laundry concerns time. There was a drift, an evaporation, and a scent. The heat of the day had made hair soft, eyes squint and instilled an underlying, almost reflective tension, adding a kind of dulled awareness where there seemed no reliable event to cling to, listen to, sense or observe. It was, he decided briefly, a movement through moments, and the experience of fleeting traces of feeling within them. Not at all a linear progression, but simply a collection, slightly pulsing and gesturing. Slowly built outside, elsewhere. This sensation returned periodically to him as he sat, his foot tapping on the floor, releasing a faint rhythm. 

Recorded between the ages of 14 and 19, using an array of homemade stringed and electronic instruments, circuit bent devices, an old pub piano and field recordings, this release by Milo Thesiger-Meacham is a culmination of simply capturing moments, atmospheres, senses and feelings that cannot really be explained with words. ‘Memorate’ was a term used and defined by the folklorist Carl Wilhelm von Sydow in 1934 to convey a sense of supernatural narrative inside personal memory and experience. Although this release is in essence themeless, childhood senses of play and the drift away from certain periods in time, come to the fore in the pieces. With this approach comes instinctive, emotionally intricate, physical and sensory composition and recording. Milo’s paintings, drawings and writing accompany the release.
