The origin of the name Khary (KHA-ree) is of African Swahili descent, roughly translating to “Kingly” or ”Son of the King.” Born first-generation American in Queens, NY, Khary Alexander is the son of two West Indian Caribbean immigrants from the island of Trinidad. Growing up in the boroughs of New York in the early ’80s meant his young ears were no stranger to the cultural melting pot of sounds that permeated street blocks. You could expect to be serenaded at any given moment with the sounds of classic era boom-bap hip-hop, salsa & merengue - or perhaps the ground rumbling reggae basslines from his father’s bass. ‘Stuck Off The Realness’ is a nostalgic nod to his childhood upbringing and cultural background, melding influences from dub reggae, hip-hop, and jazz all in one package. Check the vocal chop and song title honoring the late Queensbridge legend, Prodigy of Mobb Deep from ‘Shook Ones, Pt. II’ and the flip from legendary jazz composer Bob James from the cut ‘Caribbean Nights.’ In a time when the country has made space for black voices to be heard, King Khary is the embrace of a new moniker honoring his namesake, culture, and vessel to tell his story

Observation of the Day: Realizing what a task I've taken on.  Has it's good and bad.  For one - It's starting to take a toll on my sleep, but still uploaded something for the night...and, that counts from something, right?  Actually, considering easing back to a beat every other day.  Out of the sleep deprivation and almost giving up, these sweet Prophet V melodic chords came.
