The 19th Cellar Door is opened by Glasgow based artist, who has been making very interesting waves through both visual work and sonic explorations. 

Her carefully crafted Space Time Residency for Radio Buena Vida and her recent contribution into Soma Records' Compilation suggest the musical direction of the artist and her stunning visual work is getting highly appreciated by the fans and the peers.  

Kairogen has prepared absolutely stunning mix and we feel blessed to be able to present the Scottish artist on our podcast.

Artist's Bio:
The word ‘Kairogen’ created by the artist, comes from the Greek word ‘kairos’ (the right, critical or opportune moment) and ‘gen’ (to generate or create).
 
This translates as; ‘the opportunity to create’, which is intended to inspire the artist and others to harness their imagination and generate their own conditions for their creativity to bloom.
 
The Glasgow-based producer first came across music production whilst studying at art school, after a lecturer suggested creating a sound piece to fit alongside an installation project. Her love of club culture inspired artistic research focussed on Detroit techno and electronic music as an art form.
 
In the coming years she would spend her time making album art & working in Sub Club, gaining an understanding of the electronic music scene and developing her own musical tastes.
 
Working in a nightclub has had a significant effect on her own work, finding that the influence of peak-time music has led her to seek out sounds that fit round the edges of dance music, inspired by the drama and tension in DJ sets and leaning towards the ambient/experimental side of the electronic spectrum.
 
For the artist, there has always been a strong passion for both visual art & music. A process of figuring out how to practice both of these and where they fit. This tension has made possible a space of endless exploration and a desire to create works that blur the boundaries between genres and contexts, a practice which only continues to evolve.

#19-KAIROGEN

Today’s premiere comes from a label that has, over the last year or so become a close follow for myself and has graced a few of our ‘Bandcamp Pick’ lists. The Mexico City based ‘Secuencias Temporales’, precise artistic vision and breadth of their releases mesh well with us at Delayed and we’re happy to premiere ‘Urama’ off their forthcoming Aucuba Replica release.

If the name doesn’t sound familiar, Aucuba Replica represents the creative output of two Delayed favorites, Adhémar and Olorun. A combination that explores sound design grounded by field recordings and seemingly similar motifs that upon closer inspection contain a multitude of different details. 

Urama and in turn the rest of the release evoke visions of an unnamed jungle, through various states of clarity, light, and dark. The mists obscuring most of the inner workings, with the calls of birds echoing through the trees. Urama is a journey through the depths.

'Urama' is scheduled for release on May 17th

For the release number 018, Oslated is pleased to welcome the Korean-American producer based in New-York : Soramimi. A multi-talented artist who deploys her creativity in the electronic music sphere as much as a composer as a label manager. Indeed she manages the label "Dusk Note" with Cory James who remixed a track from her LP « The World Trembles In My Hands ».
A release composed of 7 tracks that immerses us well in her precise and meticulous work of composition. From the start we are carried away by the flow and the multiple rhythms, the pulsations shift and bring us into a different state supported by alluring layers of intricate and evolving sonic abstractions.
The tracks continue to follow each other and Soramimi continues to intertwine throbbing immersive techno with heady rhythms, like in the track « Oceanic Writhe », which clearly has the dynamics to push us to dance until the end of the night.
The sustained pulsation goes through our whole body, up to the track « Geomancer », where a diaphanous light emanates, inviting us to become aware of all these vibrations.
The atmosphere becomes brighter in the remix of Cory James which closes this release. Our eyes remain closed, our body in motion and our third eye open to radial lights.
