For the release number 018, Oslated is pleased to welcome the Korean-American producer based in New-York : Soramimi. A multi-talented artist who deploys her creativity in the electronic music sphere as much as a composer as a label manager. Indeed she manages the label "Dusk Note" with Cory James who remixed a track from her LP « The World Trembles In My Hands ».
A release composed of 7 tracks that immerses us well in her precise and meticulous work of composition. From the start we are carried away by the flow and the multiple rhythms, the pulsations shift and bring us into a different state supported by alluring layers of intricate and evolving sonic abstractions.
The tracks continue to follow each other and Soramimi continues to intertwine throbbing immersive techno with heady rhythms, like in the track « Oceanic Writhe », which clearly has the dynamics to push us to dance until the end of the night.
The sustained pulsation goes through our whole body, up to the track « Geomancer », where a diaphanous light emanates, inviting us to become aware of all these vibrations.
The atmosphere becomes brighter in the remix of Cory James which closes this release. Our eyes remain closed, our body in motion and our third eye open to radial lights.

Soramimi, alias of Celia S. Kim, is a NYC-based electronic composer, producer, sound designer and co-owner of @dusk-notes record label. Launched in 2011, her project focuses on music as narrative imagery, with a celestial sound illustrated by cerebral textures and rhythms, and deep hallucinatory compositions. She brings a distinct fluency and gravity to the table of nuanced experimental techno and ambient.

Soramimi’s live PA features her original compositions using both hardware synths and effects and software. Forgoing the path of the DJ, she instead chooses to showcase her own creations with live electronics. Her performances intertwine throbbing immersive techno with heady rhythms, and create alluring layers of intricate and evolving sonic abstraction. Influenced heavily by cinematic sound design and evocative sound scoring, she summons a powerful, visceral reaction in the listener. Her live PA has been spotlighted at NYC’s esteemed Output Club, The Bunker New York, Good Room, Knockdown Center, Red Bull Music Academy Radio and Bossa Nova Civic Club; and DC’s revered Forward Festival. She has shared the stage with other forward-thinking live PA artists such as Rrose, Lawrence English, Sleeparchive, Drumcell, Blazej Malinowski and Vril.

Well-received in both critical and tastemaker circles, “Rapture Insignia,” released on Dusk Notes in 2015 and Soramimi’s second solo EP, proved to be a groundbreaking production for the artist. Resident Advisor applauded its exploratory sound and generative composition, by the “hardware whiz capable of finding beauty in the stormiest of synth workouts.” Electronic Explorations Podcast 389 featured the release, alongside Soramimi’s rare DJ mix, praised by many as their rare find for the year. 2015 also saw the artist’s success as a sound designer, for an award-winning ad campaign for IBM US Open.

Her swiftly expanding catalog features releases alongside Perc, Acronym and ASC. The release of Soramimi’s third solo EP “Pure Rubedo” on Dusk Notes, and her exclusive feature for Slam Radio 274, were both highlights for the producer in 2017. 2018 further propelled the artist’s creations, with “two strong, deeply hypnotic releases on Monday Off and Detroit Underground” and a “masterfully engineered” remix on Dusk Notes (Mixmag) - her co-run label which “like Soramimi herself..demands and rewards close inspection.” (DJ Mag)
