After releasing New Zealand composer, drummer and producer Cory Champion’s acclaimed Clear Path Ensemble jazz album at the start of 2020, we’re proud to bookend the project with a new digital EP of remixes of songs off the album by Kush Jones, Christoph El Truento, AceMo, Glenn Astro, Daniel Hayles, and Champion under his Borrowed CS house and techno alias.

Where the Clear Path Ensemble album was a vivid ode to psychedelia, spiritual jazz, planetary rhythms and celestial oddities, these remixes turn his cosmic compositions into suped-up starcraft. Glen Astro and Kush Jones give ‘Jerry’s Funk’ a series of electro, dub techno and footwork re-rubs. Christoph El Truento and Borrowed CS both reimagine ‘Drip’ for the orbital nightclubs of the future. Mongo Skato rebuilds ‘Future Fatigue’ to a pounding pulse, and AceMo takes ‘Panorama Actual Spectral’ to Saturn and back. Rounding things out Daniel Hayles meditates on ‘Inner Space’ through sparse-but-emotive piano figures.

If you’ve already spent some time on the Clear Path Ensemble mothership, hearing how these considerable talents have reframed Champion’s jazz pieces is a real joy. And if not, start here on the dancefloor, before making your way back into the lounge bar later on.

MIMS is pleased to premiere the heart warming, toe tapping sounds of "Aventure" by Harmonious Thelonious, the solo project of the Düsseldorf musician Stefan Schwander.

Released on 30th October on Hamburg label Couldn't Care More whose previous releases have included artists such as John Daly, A Sagittariun and The Oliverwho Factory.

Harmonious Thelonious, work combines American influenced minimal music with African rhythms and European melodies. His music successfully embraces the physical power of a club night soundtrack whilst exploring the dramatic depths of sonic worlds, creating an intensive listening experience in total solitude.

Couldn't Care More tell us that Aventure "keeps the same yet ever-changing lighthearted melody effortlessly meandering back and forth over electrified beats".

This month we have the pleasure of welcoming fico(@fico1), one of the guys behind the reputable Abysmal Lounge collective (@abysmal_lounge). The Japanese DJ, based in the city of Fukuoka, takes us into a soulful and eclectic musical journey showcasing real knowledge behind the decks. "The Connection" is a mesmerizing 45-minute selection, prescribed for the ones leaving behind the bad sensations.

Gingee is a producer, DJ and vocalist from Los Angeles. Her eclectic dance music blends sounds from across the globe, with percussion and vocals. Her live set incorporates diverse elements,.from Philippine kulintang gongs, to finger drumming. She has released several EPs and an LP including 2018's "Solstice/Equinox," a four part project corresponding to each season and peppered with collaborations from her travels. She's played the Sahara stage at Coachella, South by Southwest official, Grand Performances, and Levitt Pavilion as well as toured in Europe and Asia. She's been a featured artist on Globalization Sessions (Sirius XM), Red Bull Radio and Arte TV's "Music on the Road" series. She is also the founder of Magic Garage, a community art collective which brings together creatives across cultures, mediums and genres.
