Jensen Interceptor follows up this year's Jensen & Friends LP with a four-track EP named after the Thermaic Gulf in Greece, where his family hails from.

The inspiration goes deeper than just the title as Jensen has delved into the sounds, both ancient and modern, of his motherland.

Whether sampling sounds from some of his favourite Thessaloniki-based drill artists or incorporating live recordings of the Lyra and Pandura, he has woven these elements into the architectural fabric of all four tracks, along with all the humour, charm & hallmarks we would come to expect from the Berlin-based one-man club-banger machine.

The third episode of the DC-R series on Threads features two innovative artists from Lisbon – Oströl (Tomás Larisch Frazer), a versatile composer, sound engineer, and conductor, and 2rana 3crana (Jussi Brightmore / Gum Takes Tooth), a DJ-sound artist exploring the boundaries of audio perception.

Oströl opens the episode with a mesmerizing half-hour soundscape, blending prepared electronics, evocative field recordings, and the delicate nuances of piano. The piece deconstructs the familiar ambiance of a café, where serendipitous rustles, clinks, and fragmented utterances intertwine with piano notes to craft a melody that continuously evolves. It transports listeners into a meditative, dreamlike state, where reality is gently distorted, creating an immersive experience that feels as though it sinks below the surface of consciousness.

In contrast, the final hour presents a dynamic mix by 2rana 3crana, guiding listeners through a labyrinth of intricate textural soundscapes. The mix, inspired by their transition from London to Lisbon, radiates with a unique intensity. It mutates sonic elements into cellular transformations, bending and stretching time into elastic, multidimensional forms. This is not a mix for those seeking comfort or familiarity; it's an audacious exploration of sound that challenges and expands the listener’s auditory boundaries.

We are proud to present ‘Undercurrents’, the third series of compilations featuring artists from the 3024 Mentoring Program.

Started in 2020, the Mentoring Program run by label owner Martyn has become a worldwide online and IRL community of artists sharing resources, ideas and inspiration. This compilation showcases the wide range of fresh and amazing music that is continuously surfacing from the program, unbound by strict genre definitions.

Besides a collection of new music, Undercurrents is also a consideration of what a record label can be in 2024. Whether it’s a platform for repurposing old material, providing daylight for new sounds, artists or even entire communities, or injecting new ideas about authenticity and sustainability into the current of the underground, rather than partaking in the unwinnable race over algorithm dominance. An understated approach for maximum impact.
