Hailing from Pretoria, South Africa - Chee has quickly become one of the most decorated and recognized producers in the South African bass music movement. Completely engulfing, intense, intricate and dark, his sound can be described as visceral, schizophrenic bass music. His talent hasn’t gone unnoticed across the borders of his home country, he has become a regular fixture on Noisia podcasts as well as releases on labels as diverse as Buygore and Close 2 Death.

Perfect Machine sees a collaboration with Counterstrike. A glitchy buildup leads to a slow and low drop with cheeky vocals and nutty edits.

Viper have always been known as a label that has actively sought out new talent to bring to the spotlight; their strength comes from both a diverse roster, a constant stream of fresh talent, and some of the scene’s most respected veterans, all in one place. With names like Metrik, Fred V & Grafix, ShockOne, Delta Heavy, Sigma, Nero, DC Breaks, and more all starting their career on the prolific label, there’s no question label-boss Futurebound has a knack for discovering diamonds in the rough. Following Viper’s newest mystery signee Giganti, Futurebound has just signed another talented newcomer to the label, this time going by the name of Millbrook. 
Millbrook is no stranger to releasing killer music; a look into his past will provide insight how he cut his teeth writing and releasing drum and bass under previous alias Vacuum. With an impressive amount of support and airtime from the likes of Bassnecter, Noisa, DJ Hype, Camo & Krooked and Glitch Mob already under his belt, Michel Losch, aka Millbrook, is now ready to elevate his sound to the next level in a new partnership with Viper.
Making a remarkable introduction for himself, ‘The Rise’ is the first taste of the Luxembourg based producer’s rebrand. Written with the talented Vorso and featuring industry favourite Mad Hed City on vocals, ‘The Rise’ is a raw, gritty, pounding masterpiece with a drop that is guaranteed to leave jaws on the floor. A charming intro melody quickly evolves into something much more sinister, emotion, followed by pure adrenaline, pumping from Mad Hed City’s iconic voice before breaking down into something minimal, funky, and all around technically brilliant. 
The flip side of the single gives us a glimpse at Millbrook’s much more elegant side – a cinematic opening teases at his sound design ability while introducing a variety of power-packed chords for an instantly memorable tune. Delivering a different kind of funk with the drop, Millbrook has certainly proven he is a force to be reckoned with with this release. 
A celebration of the label’s diversity, Millbrook’s introductory release promises a lot more to look forward to. Keep your eyes peeled for more from Millbrook this year, alongside Viper’s growing roster of new and formidable talent.

When Donny (UK), Katharsys (FR) and Forbidden Society (CZ) joined forces, known through their pseudonym 3RDKND, it sent shockwaves throughout the darker droves of drum & bass. As individuals, they’ve each had an impressive array of club and festival appearances as well as releases on some of the scene’s most unforgiving imprints. And this is something which is set to continue, although this time as a collective after the trio unleashed their first painstakingly engineered creations on stage at the Let it Roll festival Mecca in 2018. 
Since their ‘Cognitive’ EP, they’ve spent months perfecting this next output and it’s something which is clear through the high-levels of production demonstrated throughout. They wanted to merge the experimental world and the harder styles they’ve become aligned with; this is something which is done without remorse, whilst never watering down the quality of their sounds. The ‘Remnant’ EP is a package which doesn’t sacrifice class for its heaviness and neither does it sacrifice its heaviness for more commercial appeal. This is reminiscent of Forbidden Society’s catalogue, the label named after one part of 3RDKND project, and an imprint providing the perfect home for the collectives’ sonic art. 
‘Kill’, ‘Demon’, ‘The Fix’ and ‘Remnant of a Dream’ give an idea of their dispositions through their intimidating namesakes. As can be expected, both ‘Kill’ and ‘Demon’ go straight for the sonic jugular and they do so without restraint, something which each part of the trio are renowned for. ‘The Fix’ and ‘Remnant of a Dream’ are just as explosive but through different means. With each featuring a cinematic introduction, you’re pulled into the sci-fi inspired landscape of the collective and dropped into their world, filled with gyrating snare patterns and slicing kick drums. As a package, the ‘Remnant’ EP shows how 3RDKND are continuing their assault. Something which they’re dedicated to and with help from a platform like Forbidden Society, this is sure to continue as their career climbs to new heights.

IBENJI makes his OTHERCIDE RECORDS debut with the BLAST OFF EP as he brings a set of diverse halftime selections to the label. Hailing from Moscow, IBENJI’s history spans nearly 10 years of two step influence, marked first by dubstep releases on labels such as Rottun Recordings and Section 8 and followed by more recent halftime works on labels such as Uplink Audio & LA90 Music. Throughout this diverse history of releases IBENJI’s sound has been marked by a unique hip hop influence, a trend continued on the BLAST OFF EP across its four powerful tracks.

The titular BLAST OFF opens the EP in collaboration with SHIIRU as the pair set the sounds of a sinister hip hop vocal provided by T3ARZ to a halftime beat that lumbers with absolute bravado. MODEL 315 then experiments upon its electrified bassline, warping it between an array of drum fills and devastating kickdrums interspersed with vocal interjections. SHIIRU returns to collaborate with IBENJI once more on SHINOBI, which rises from inauspicious origins to produce the razor sharp slices of a well honed bass that cuts through the track’s shadowy atmosphere with exacting precision. Closing the EP is the energetic FLOW, which leaps its way through a landscape of chopped vocals, rumbling basses and explosive percussion for a final summation of the EP’s focal qualities.

With BLAST OFF, IBENJI brings his uniquely accented halftime to OTHERCIDE RECORDS, continuing in the growth of the label’s ever expanding horizons within the larger drum & bass scene.
