2014 stands as a defining moment for the RAM Records imprint. Not only did it announce the pivotal signing of artists like Audio, Teddy Killerz and Bensley but they also oversaw the birth of compilation series RAMLife hosted by Loadstar. Even in its first form, it contained nearly every essential release the last twelve months had to offer. 

But this year, RAMLife is taking you into deeper and murkier dimensions. Having already flexed his production muscle on the ricocheting, four-track ‘Nil by Mouth’ EP, as well as his first visual debut in the music video for ‘Heads Up’, it’s now time for Audio to cut open and expose his musical psyche. 

Including some of the most aggressive, technically adept and prominent artists the genre has to offer, including Bad Company, Optiv & BTK and Noisia to name a few, no stone goes unturned for the album’s entirety. Audio also throws bass-fuelled bullets in the form of exclusives, with explosive VIPs that have yet to be released. 

The brand new cut ‘Foodchain’ from Audio sets a theme which is prevalent throughout all 27 tracks. Uncompromising yet diligently crafted, it leads you into a freight train of musicality which holds you hostage from start to finish. Zipping through to the mechanical composition of Mefjus’ ‘Brainwork’, all the way back to Spor’s heavy-hitting ‘Bullet Time’ remix; this is a no holds barred exploration of the genre’s darker side.

Audio brings his live personality into the whole album and accompanying mix; one that doesn't let you pause for breath. It began as a whisper, spoken in low tones in multiple languages in the uneasy night. Talk of a place where the greatest of mecha roam, gathering amongst the desolate ruins of a war prepared for and never fought. The first explorers returned with stories of low frequency weapons, harvested from the ruined depths of a subterranean complex. With these re-engineered into towering relays capable of pure sonic carnage, the lands began filling rapidly with pilgrims from distant places, offering themselves as captives to their own higher mental states. What was once a mere whisper has now become legend, with this meeting of the mightiest clans bringing forth the greatest frequency warriors to stake out their claims. 

EATBRAIN casts a long shadow across the fray, setting seasoned label veterans L 33 and MINDSCAPE into the hordes of adrenaline-fuelled ravers alongside recent label additions MACHINECODE and AGRESSOR BUNX - all of whom have LPs coming on the label as well as appearing at the festival. A tight manifesto is stretched across the 4 rowdy and high-energy tracks that make up the EATBRAIN GOES TO LET IT ROLL, with the irresistible audio manipulative skills of Eatbrain crafted to exquisitely tear up the dance. The title cut busts and blasts its way into existence, strange samples leading the way. Insistent, futuristic beats slide over the top, setting you up for something big. The track moves through a range of levels, as the producers open up more and more, accessing new sounds and emotions. This is serious, cutting edge music, and a fantastic start to the EP. 

The Germ follows suit, with deep bass already obvious in the intro, before all hell breaks loose at the drop. Twisted, twisting samples and effects pour themselves in and out of the mix, as a haunting melody line turns and shifts, rising and falling. Shining and shimmering, don’t lose the real meaning of this one - it’s a killer.
Infiltrating is the first track on Side B. This one builds up, levelling out with some explosive beats and equally enticing low end. 

Let the infection take over your being, as Dean Rodell and Current Value take
￼￼things to the next level. And closing things out is the Machine Code remix of Artificial Organism by Homeboy. Here, the track opens with electronic flashes, a ticking beat and a steady sense of anticipation. This is paid off by a fantastic drop, after which the true genius of the remix is slowly uncovered, via a spine chilling breakdown and rebuild.

Not for the faint-hearted, Projection is serious. A must-have.

‘Scavenger’ carries all the hallmarks of a Calyx & TeeBee production, brought kicking and screaming into 2012. For those who’ve been lamenting a lack of new material from the duo this will satisfy every waking urge. Driving synths pave the wave for heart-racing build ups all leading to an inevitably powerful drop.

Meanwhile ‘Stepping Stones’ shows us a glimpse of Calyx & TeeBee’s lighter side. Soulful vocals slide effortlessly over a backbone that’s beautifully put together, balancing heavyweight production and dance floor power with subtlety and class that progresses throughout.
