Bouffant Bouffant is a DJ, Producer, and party starter from New Orleans, Louisiana. He cut his teeth in local sex clubs, warehouses, and dive bars but has become a major player on the bubbling American Queer Underground nightlife circuit as well as International jaunts to play for the likes of Buttons Berlin and Savage Hanoi. His monthly party Gimme A Reason has been fostering space for queer nightlife in New Orleans for over 9 years. He’s also 1/3 of queer and women lead  DJ collective Trax Only and 1/2 of DJ duo Babygirl. Trax Only have become infamous for their one off warehouse raves that expose New Orleans to a plethora of national and international queer talent as well as their compilation SOFT TOUCH EXPRESS, a survey of producers from the American Queer Underground.

Key influences for them are UK breaks producers/labels, as well as gravitating towards percussive-heavy tracks from producers around the world, joining the dots together in a playful, raw, and emotionally-charged tapestry of sounds.

"I recorded this during an especially joyful moment of my life and I think this comes through in the mix. It's a balance of rebellious/skanky/emotional energy from beginning to end. There's a focus on playful rhythms and contorted textures, and I included a lot of tracks from producers that are ongoing inspirations for me, as well as hidden gems that deserve more listening time."

Listen to an excerpt of my 4 hour set at Ficken3000 for the party Ficken4Freaks. It starts very creamy, but ends up being very bouncy, mixing experimental tracks with house of the 80s, tribal gay hymns, trippy progressive house and even flirting with some minimal approach. It is definitely as diverse as the Ficken3000 crowd, who are keen and excited to listen to all these genres.

About the mix: Más que un sonido o un estilo en particular, en este mix quise mostrar lo que me interesa tanto de armar sets como de bailarlos: hacer un viaje por cruces de estilos y épocas buscando la mayor coherencia posible, ya sea por algún elemento, un mood o incluso letra. Por supuesto que hay mucho de lo que se conoce como house, pero también quise incluir cosas de los orígenes (como disco, italo disco y proto house), además de momentos más trippy y un par de producciones propias que edité este año y que están inspiradas en esto mismo.
