No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross (Sufjan Stevens cover)

I can’t remember how many times I’ve listened through Sufjan’s new record. It may be in danger of being the first record I’ve actually worn out from overuse.

Long before I heard the record, Vanessa and I decided to cover a Sufjan song for April as an homage to his visit to Milwaukee.

His concert at the Riverside blew us away. And when he sang “The Only Thing,” it hit me where it counts, just as it does every time I listen to the record.

We originally thought about covering other older Sufjan songs, but I am so glad we chose this one, and I am excited to share it with you.
