The 3rd collaboration of prolific cellist Sara Oswald and electronic musician Feldermelder evokes captivating sensations that oscillate between impending doom and hope. The albums’ sonic journey is highly immersive, transporting the listener from one cerebral landscape to another. The transformative nature of metallic elements being integrated in sustained orchestral tones weaves the sonic tapestry, resulting in a captivating experience for the listeners. The organic sounding — reminiscent of minerals’ timbres — brings a touch of brightness and a distinctive edge, while the orchestral harmonic structures lend a sense of grandeur and continuity. The origins of this music remain enigmatic, while the tracks of the album gradually unveil concealed aspects and the hidden truth.
One can step into a realm where melodies are reborn, as Sara Oswald’s cello spins tales and emotions burst forth. Nature’s eternal splendor intertwines with the essence of music, as she infuses harmonies with the soul of mountains. Vibrant hues come alive with delicate strokes, and cascading notes resonate with a select few. Feldermelder conjures profound echoes that swirl like ancient whispers of the earth’s primordial past. He sculpts textures, from fragmented glitches to expansive atmospheres, that warp the fabric of reality. The two musicians merge together harmoniously, blending the acoustic and electronic worlds into a transcendent unity. This fusion of contrasting elements adds a unique and intriguing quality to the music. The cello’s warmth merges with pulsating electronic beats, creating a symphony of contrasts and sonic upheaval. Each composition is woven in intricate layers, combining electroacoustic architecture with delicate precision. A subtle balance of chaos and control permeates the music as it meanders through the labyrinth of the mind. The soundscape unfolds like a grand tapestry, distant echoes murmuring like grains of sand.

Trained in baroque cello and advocating improvised music, Sara Oswald is the perfect match for sound artist and electronic musician Feldermelder. She plays solo, composes for film and theatre and collaborates with musicians like The Young Gods, Pascal Auberson, Sophie Hunger and Julian Sartorius. Feldermelder is a polymathic creative whose artistry spans composition, sound design, installation and code. He is co-founders of -OUS and part of Encor.studio, a collective of artists who specialise in creating immersive audio-visual installations. Through his work, he explores the idea of secrecy and its impact on our lives, using music and sound to create a thought-provoking and immersive experience for his audience.

With his fourth release on -OUS, Furtherset presents an intriguing three-part EP that plots a unique confluence of ambient, experimental electronics and modern classical; three chapters of stratospheric drama and depth that set the stage for his long-awaited forthcoming album.

‘Auras’ begins with the gentle drift of sparks and tremors, moving into delicately wrought, disintegrative currents of sound, before sustaining a sense of elevated physicality, and expanding outwards, reaching for the beyond. Furtherset develops new compositions with the mindset of a writer who approaches the blank page of a new book. Articulations appear, briefly at first, then develop into words, then into sentences, and finally, a compelling story is formed.

Rhythms transition into melodies, harmonics are added almost imperceptibly, creating an abundant filigree of sound. ‘Auras’ is a spiralling work of glitch and slippage, of surge and overload, of stillness and suspension.  

Furtherset’s new music is time dilating and dimensional, creating space and stature, a world which contains dazzling and manifold tonalities. ‘Auras’ illustrates an evolution: «I wanted to have much more clarity and technical precision, to make everything more crystalline». Like the prismatic light of a crystal ‘Auras’ changes as each element comes into focus. Here Furtherset takes the listener on an emotive, mercurial journey, designing a towering universe of evocative sensation and memory. 
Furtherset is the musical project of italian musician and artist Tommaso Pandolfi — class of 1995. His music is an open invitation to immerse oneself into a weightless states of mind. Exhaling growth and inhaling decay, his walls of sound are restlessly built from layered and looped harmonies, shifting modulations and sampled voices. The figures are pushed over the tipping point to where they explode and are then reshaped into melodic cascades.

Over-ripe bananas and quaaludes, looking across the concrete at screeching burnouts resonating into echo-streaked good morning sunshine. 

Beat a zig zag serpentine passage, and drift towards solid ground on the platform, are you coming down? Ported and stacked, slip into a stuttering seventh dub. 

Alarm bells and scattering footsteps in the carriage, that is ugly (what’s going on?) 

Space liquid danger waters, sink or swim, float forward inside out, Queens Park conga, last train (to Glasgow Central). 

Perfect storm clouds, take a beat dub cut-up bud, splash it out.

“Crocodile or Real?” is a new record by Dip Friso, following 2020’s “If The Worm Turns It Could Turn Ugly”. Dip Friso is a recording project of Murray Collier, who also releases music as Grim Lusk (Domestic Exile, 12th Isle), Sunny Balm (Sacred Summits) and as one half of Pussy Mothers (Optimo Music).

This Project was conceived through the correspondence of Vox Populi’s Axel Kyrou and Jim Strong. It serves to commemorate the 30th anniversaries of both the founding of the Philadelphia art collective, Vox Populi Gallery in 1988 and the release of Half Dead Ganja Music, the seminal 1987 album by Vox Populi!. Vox Populi! Emerged out of the eighties Industrial Underground in Paris. The Group’s mercurial experimentation was deeply influenced by Spirituality and Surrealism. They were further set apart for the incorporation of Folk Instrumentation and Influences derived from the diverse origins of the bands members. 
The selections included on “Half Alive Ganja Music” characteristically range all over the map from the Lush Pop Psychedelia of the lead single “Ney” to the albums closer, a Sprawling Live Outtake which Ebbs and Flows between the Bubbling electronics of half formed Art Song Crescendo through long passages of Ritual tinged Improvisation. Both Tracks, Comprise the 5 never before released recordings which make this (double) anniversary collection so special.
