SYN Premiere: Connor Wrong - Paws Up [W133012]

Tresor Records announces the first-ever reissue of Drexciya’s 'Fusion Flats' 12” vinyl, including remixes from Detroit’s Octave One, Kaotic Spatial Rhythms and 043 Chaos. 

Originally released in the wake of Drexciya’s seminal 1999 Tresor debut album 'Neptune’s Lair', this release marks its long-awaited return and first appearance on digital platforms. The remastered edition contains the original extended version of Fusion Flats and features new artwork by Detroit-based contemporary artist Matthew Angelo Harrison, whose reimagined covers continue to shape the Drexciya reissue series. 

25 years later, Fusion Flats returns to the constellation of Drexciya’s Tresor works, connecting their debut full-length to further explorations that continue to inspire generations.

Hailing from Bogotá, Colombia, @ruizprod steps into the role of archival selector, tracing the beating heart of Afro-Colombian and pan-Latin American rhythm: from Petrona Martínez’s ancestral bullerengue and Cumbia's global ambassador Totó La Momposina to the lush, psychedelic swells of Los Mirlos and Los Destellos.

A rich blend of field recordings, dialogue and guitar lines, the mix pays homage to intimate family gatherings and the passing down of oral tradition. Erika also speaks candidly about her selections, gifting us an hour of cultural cartography that maps the borderless archive of Colombia’s Caribbean coast and the legacy of Afro-diasporic music in Latin America.

Converging at the intersections of UK bass, 140, broken techno and global club, @JKSmusic translates a decade of drumming experience into a comprehensive study of the genres that shaped him prior to ever touching an electronic drum machine. Threading together the syncopation of Dubrunner and Biome with the low-end physics of Breaka and the North African influences of mahraganat, Valentin compiles an exhaustive catalogue of his own musical evolution and a reflection on its geographical roots.

Stepping beyond the confines of his usual techno framework, this two hour mix pays tribute to his rhythmic foundations, exploring organic, human percussion, the concept of rave, and the physical warmth and weight that drives these sounds.

Titan

An exercise in the art of restraint, @carmenelectr0 cited a desire to expand beyond her club persona into a more delicate world she has mostly only appreciated in private. A longtime fan of Ricardo Villalobos, Mr. G, and other pioneers of dubby minimalism, she recorded this mix entirely on vinyl, drawing from more secluded corners of her collection to share tracks that have rarely made it into her sets. Though still recognisably sentimental at its core, she stated an intention to present house and techno cuts that meander through more subtle shades of emotion, whilst hinting at a new direction for upcoming creative projects.

Deep, hypnotic and nostalgic, Carmen channels the gentler B-sides and ambient undercurrents that have shaped her off-duty listening away from the booth. From the "don't think, just listen" spirit of Markus Suckut and the humidity of Roman Poncet to nthng’s near-spiritual finale, the mix is glossy, tactile, and surreal: sixty minutes adjusted to cruise control along the softer edges of her universe.

Vorso - Fizzbuzz [Premiere]

Originally recorded as a test run for a performance at Halle am Berghain, this fifty minute mix shimmers with a fantastical sense of depth as though peering into an endless, velvet void from the precipice of a cliff. Wild, tender and dramatic all at once, a combination of drums, modular hardware and electronic instruments breathe a paradoxical entity into existence, reflecting back the shifting face of nature's discordant beauty and menace through ritualistic samples, pads and synth lines.

Varying between lightness and weight in her footsteps, @beste-hira takes the road less taken, drifting into an internal world that is both submerged and self-reflective - suspended at moments like a snapshot capturing fragments of her own free-fall.
