excellent track...merry christmas back atcha...a cool re-interpretation

My first experiment in a somewhat sonata-like movement that loosely follows the exposition-development-recapitulation cycle, where the second, G major (tethering even on D major) returns in the recapitulation in the home key of C minor. It took me longer to finish than anticipated but in the end, I'm extremely pleased with the result. 

The main theme is one of those themes that simply appears almost on its own when your hands land on the piano. It was a delightful, but chalenging experience trying to develop it and derive new themes from it, in the end I've scraped as many themes as I've included. 

I dedicate this work to my dear friend Ivan Dadić and his wife, Katarina Dadić, who liked the melody so much that she used it as a ringtone for her alarm clock.

This is my reinterpretation of the song Merry Ex-Mas, a brilliant piece by Ian PH Clifford. The original version is an absolutely beautiful track, just acoustic guitar and voice. I was so taken with the song that I immediately asked Ian if I could do a remix. He agreed and even after saying that I was interested in doing something punk or post-punk, Ian didn't shy away. So the original acoustic version went from 127 bpm to 160 bpm, and incorporated distorted guitars, pounding bass and frantic drums. It's a complete miracle that there are still people who want to do collabs with me, even though I mutilate songs like this. 😂

Merry Ex-Mas was #4 on the Repost/Exchange rock chart and I can only thank Ian for the opportunity to reinterpret a song that is already fantastic in itself.

After watching the news about the volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland, the four-piece post-rock band Laxá composed the first track of their new album as a result. 

Entititled "Eldensgill," which translates as "Fire Angel", it melds post rock and classical elements provided by the Heima Quartet.

I missed the old America where kids could play on the streets; we had a good education system, and we didn't worry about a dual justice system. However, I hold out hope for the future and "I stand tall for  freedom" because "America is worth fighting for"
