Fighting Elza is a tricky proposition, and a task not often taken on. Whether she's on the bridge of the Teneritas guiding her crew, in her Exshell, 'Megalode,' or on foot, she has a tendency to completely disappear and she never seems to be quite where you think she is. Feared by some, beloved by many, she's classified as an S-Class level threat in the Earth Federation's jurisdiction.

This song is the 4th album edition of Karina's theme. Karina's been through an awful lot, and learned much about herself. She serves as one of the POV protagonists in book 4, and we get to see the inside of her heart and mind a lot more. As she comes to grips with the fact that she is the cause of every problem in her own life, she's grown to hate herself. She's tasked with saving the lives of her friends while journeying through an empire at war with itself. On top of that, she has an awful secret and two lovers who are very, very far away, and may never return.

Life in Claratine City out on the fringes of the country of Pratz (right on the border with the Empire) is pretty rough. Miners drink a lot, and drifters passing through in search of a quick buck tend to play rough, too. The steam machines are on, doing their best all day and night. There are huge gears and lots of conveyor belts all over town. Verse and her group stop by on their way further north, beyond the borders of either country. Verse has a dark secret in this town. One she'd forgotten for a long, long time. Being here makes her very, very uncomfortable.

Claratine Minetown

And today on "tracks that I couldn't get done in time for HardSpeed divide," we have this fun funk piece I was working on for a hydroelectric dam under construction. The area around it has really weird weather, and strange plants grow in the spots that aren't just a sandy wasteland. Capel had better be careful!

It was nice to get back into doing a little Elancia music between everything else. The 4th album is chugging along, but has been delayed (for now.) That said, I'm still working on it whenever I can.
With that outta the way, this is the theme for Mei. A mysterious drifter, who has some history with Aria and Fiend. Mei is incredibly reckless and is (almost) as apathetic as Verse. Unlike Verse, Mei works these feelings out by blowing things up and robbing banks. Mei lives an aimless life, following the wind whichever way it blows and getting into trouble wherever it leads. Always looking for another thrill, that wildflower.

'nother Elancia track! I've had this one bouncing around in my brain for years. Off and on, I'd work on it. Sometimes I'd be happy with the results, most times I wouldn't. I think this is what I'm sticking with? Hopefully?
Anyway, this song focuses on one of the dwarven towns in Elancia. Dwarves on Elancia like to build toys, paint buildings and castles bright colors and spread joy. They're a bit different from ones in other lore, but I guess that's what makes them so fun. Verse and friends stop in a Dwarven town during trying times, and it helps pick their moods up a little...

VF_Rolling Battle

Some fresh Elancia music here. Started this one a couple years back when I was working on the third book and soundtrack. I ended up not being able to use it there, but it fits perfectly into the 4th book/album.
The city the song is about is a highly mechanized, steam-powered city that is built into both walls of a big canyon. A massive water wheel powers most of the town.

friend requested i reimagine this track "with a Metroid Prime-esque atmosphere" with a generous tip thrown in, so i cranked this out in a couple days and glad to say we're both happy with it

i know that the original was the product of crunch and legal issues, but it's still so bizarre to me that they picked a bad midi of Big Arms for the final dungeon when it's an eggman theme that afaik has nothing to do with angel island or anything echidna related.

i kept the spirit with some similar notes and even a "corrupted" version of one of the additions made to the Gens 3DS version of Big Arms, but otherwise tried to make something totally new out of it

i do wish sonic would try being an RPG again instead of slapping RPG elements into the flagship games. it's been long enough since Chronicles flopped/Ken Penders destroyed the canon and indirectly caused all of the mandates, SEGA please you're leaving good ideas and good money on the table

Nocturne, if it wasn't garbage | Sonic Chronicles [Cover]

Recovered the original 2015 project file from Planet Aloha and got it more in line with the direction of HardSpeed these days. It was quite fun to dig this up! Should be on the next HardSpeed/Capelspace album!
