I was at school in the 60's we were told that in the future we would become so mechanised and advances in electronics and comms systems would be so wondrous that we all would not need to work any more than about 18 hrs a week !!!They did not factor in the selfish greedy hungry and paranoid nature of man !! Im retired now and the time I spent at work at one point was around 60/70 hrs per week a 2/3's of them backshift and  nightshifts ... I wrote noises and read  on my nightshifts and filled  my contractual obligations to the minimum ... ie I fairly took the piss :) You steal my time Ill help myself to your conscience etc R :)

Dani and i the night before the launch of our new record just trying to shake off the cobwebs as we have had a few weeks without  jamming and now we better get our shit together: )  Album info .......The Rat Palace was our studio from when we first started seriously working together in 2016 until the landlords decided it was time for the artists to go and the tourists to come. It had been Mat's base since 2009 and hosted dozens of artists and musicians since it first started in 2006.
As the name suggests the place was run down, lacked various things like hot water, proper access and heating but it had a vibe, and the people we shared the space with all felt and helped to create it....Creativity was everywhere, day after night after day for years.
These 7 improvisations are a tiny fraction of the jams we had there, just a few highlights from 100s of jams. They are raw, unpolished and unconcerned with anything outside the moment. We rarely 'rehearsed' as such at the Rat Palace - just played.
Things come and things go - Vale Rat Palace, you were amazing.

Kirby/Ward - Album launch Improv

Andreas' orchestral musings (listen here: https://on.soundcloud.com/6DcQotEVL1dtwric8) inspired me to dust off a couple of old favourites, amongst them the Moog MurF, to try and come up with some pulsating, filtered low end guitar as well as a bunch of more hissy, trebly improvs. Recorded quite a few takes and selected those bits that complement his gorgeous, sweeping, cinematic track. A fair bit of editing in Logic Pro ensued, adding and subtracting, until the pacing & the mix felt right, with enough room to add to for the next stage, the third track.

Feeling instantly inspired -- this reminded me of the duo work of Mark Fell and Will Guthrie -- I set about improvising some bassy, repetitive riffs on my Tele through 1440 looper, Pladask Elektrisk's Fabrikat and some other tone-shaping gadgets. Includes minuscule edits, albeit with loads of after-the-fact looping etc., to create more of an illusion of synchronicity. Enjoy!

Approach Abstract EP

Another collaboration with @peteswinton. Pete are working on album together where we are reworking/remixing each others tracks.

This piece manipulates an original piece from Pete that he called "Rice Paddis  of Jawa". I took this track and placed into into an app called Borderlands (which is a wonderful granular synth app - of sorts). I then added a some drone using called Hillman but also making use of a hardware synth called King Drone Synth. A couple of Eventide Delay and Reverb effects were added to the mix as well.

I started creating music on my old PC back in 2002 using DAWs such as Buzz, Fl Studio and Reason. As my artist name suggest I mostly compose tunes that have an ambient edge. My main passion is creating soundscapes, be they soft drifting drones/piano pieces/heavily synth driven, weirdly abstract and classical and orchestral pieces. I mainly compose using apps on my IPad but also make use of whatever instruments I have lying around such as my Pocket Operators, Modal Craftsynth, my favourite is an Early Learning Centre keyboard.

In the past my tracks have been played in BBC Radio Oxford and BBC 6 Music. Over the years I have collaborated with people from all over the world. Please message me if you would like to collaborate 😀
