Another Superstition

Across fading horizons, the balance of light and shadow fades into silence. Frozen seasons rest in the arms of distant orbits, and names once lost reemerge among the fabric of distant clouds. Several years after his successful debut album „Keep It Raw,“ Dusty hits home with this ecelectic 4 track EP which represents a foretaste of his second album „Mood Matters“. The Jazz&Milk label founder consistantly straddles the line between tradition and modernity and proves that an album need not simply commit itself to a genre or two; and in the process ups the ante considerably by featuring a broad spectrum of musical styles, bringing together Dusty’s favourite leanings such as Jazz, Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, Latin, percussive Beats and Deep House rhythms, while seeking a natural balance between accoustic, electronic and traditional sounds through the prism of a club-music oriented approach. 

This fusion is brilliantly demonstrated on the title track „Mood Matters“ which meshes forward-driven house beats with organic instrumentation – a big Jazz banger for the dancefloor! „Danse Macabre“ features Dusty’s live band project „Bad Jazz Troupe“ taking you on a wild trip between massive horn sections, heavy beats and deep basslines. On the B-side you’ll find the strong Afro-Funk piece „Seventy Three“ with its sweeping horns, charming Afrobeat guitars and mighty drumbeats and let’s not forget the soulful beauty of „Longing Lingers“, featuring the heavenly voice of Carla Vallet ,as well as one of Munich’s most talented producers, Bartellow. 

Catch the video for the title track „Mood Matters“. Paper drum- and tape machines are brought to life through elaborately generated stop-motion sequences which can also be found on the cover artwork - handmade and directed by the artist himself.

Born in 1974 and raised in Egion where he started working as a dj at the age of fourteen.
In parallel to djing, he delves into production as an artist and co founder of Cast-a-Blast in 2006. Along with Blend Mishkin he forms the duet Palov and Mishkin, launching the compilation “Backslam Extravaganza” (2007). They then went on to release the widely praised album “Think Twice” (2009) while at the same time remixing and editing for highly acclaimed labels such as G.A.M.M., Rebtuz,  Resense, Bastard Jazz, Tru Thoughts ,Love Monk etc.
Since then Palov went on to release his debut solo “Whats That” revealing the smooth musicianship between him and the guitarist player Angelos Angelides. Within as well outside the framework of this partnership he forged production and remixing collaborations with several artists including Caro Emerald , Mo’ Horizons, Lady Faye ,Maraveyas Illegal, Daniela Bolano, Kill Emil and BNC.Nowdays he’s collaborating with Panama Cardoon and together they’re running a label called Carnibal.
Actively djing all this time he has shared the decks with well known djs/producers like Quantic, Andy Smith, Bonobo, Nickodemus ,Lack of Afro ,Florian Keller, Jon Kennedy ,Henry Storch ,Ben Lamdin ,7Samurai, Herbaliser ,Tm Juke , Mo’Horizons , Rob Luis  to name a few.
