Internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, radio host, and label owner Darin Epsilon is often referred to as a leader of the underground dance music scene.  His Perspectives radio show and podcast reaches tens of thousands of listeners every month.  He launched his Perspectives Digital record label in November 2010 as an extension of the brand, further solidifying his influence and presence within the global dance community.  In 2016, he was nominated for 'Best Progressive House Artist' in the annual Beatport Awards, and in 2011, John Digweed named him one of the winners in his DJ Competition sponsored by Bedrock & Ableton Live.  In 2017, Perspectives Digital was nominated for 'Breakthrough Label' in DJ Mag's first ever Best of North America Awards.

To date, Darin has worked with many of the industry's most respected imprints including Sudbeat, Global Underground, Renaissance, microCastle, Hope Recordings, Selador, and Perfecto Records. It’s been four long years since Steve Bug’s sublime deep house imprint blessed us with Classics Volume 01 – but when it comes Dessous Recordings – it’s worth the wait. Always ahead of the curve, the German label started as an outlet for the tastemaker and uber producer / DJ Steve Bug’s deeper urges – releasing a seemingly endless supply of fresh, smart sounds from some of house’s most renowned artists. No wonder this retrospective comes across as a celebration of a job well done – within its 20 tracks are some of the mostly finely constructed, emotional and downright dancefloor destroying grooves of this or any decade.  Nestled into its prized running order are indeed many classics, whether they be of the new, old or obscure type.  

Familiar faces make a welcome return – check out the contributions by long time collaborators Phonique, Solomun, Ryo Murakami, Vincenzo, Tanzmann and Stefanik – all dropping the genre defining slices of rich, hedonistic, elegant house music that have made their names in Europe and across the globe. As if proof was required that Dessous hasn’t rested on its laurels, several tracks from the last couple of years feature prominently – witness Moodymanc’s motor-funk detonations, Andrade’s twisted disco and Burnski’s deep pressure vibes.  What’s more, Giles Smiths’ Two Armadillos project takes its rightful place in the canon of classic Dessous releases, alongside vocal contributions by straight-up house legend Robert Owens via Dan Berkson and James What’s ‘Keep On’. 

In its 14 years history, Dessous has ridden a fair few sea changes in the choppy waters of house, yet has always retained its unique identity. Dessous Classics Volume 2 is a timely reminder of how quality wins through. Always relevant, always pushing things forward – here’s to many more years on the cutting edge.

Sitting right between band and machine-made music, the two siblings @moetmoi draw their intriguing catchiness from two different sources. There’s the repetitive bang of the kickdrum that triggers an instant urge to move - which again triggers an instant feeling of bliss and well-being. And there’s the hand-played vibe of their music that wraps around the dancing soul like a warm scarf. The omnipresent, yet subtle voice of singer Clara hovers between the meditative ringing of "The Deep Heart’s Core" and the guitar-lead narrative of "Dream" that somehow resembles the showdown scene of a Western. Archetypal rhythms, otherworldly melodies, and galaxies of possibility converge in Pandhora, a solarpunk-inspired, electronic music project whose France-based founders, Amine and Rémi, seek community over accolades and wonder over predictability. 

Disenchanted with the confines of the corporate world, the duo left their respective engineering jobs in 2015 to embark on a sonic quest. Fusing psychedelia and electronica with moods of melancholia, mystery, and bliss, they began to craft in music their vision for personal and collective empowerment: the curation of dreams, the embrace of freedom, and reverence for the Earth.

The band’s emphasis on instrumental improvisation and artistic collaboration reflects their drive to innovate, share, and experiment. Pandhora’s music, and especially their live shows, elicit strong emotions and deep catharsis. Free-form, unstructured sounds combine elements of vocals, guitar, and keyboard. Ethereal rhythms and eclectic  euphonies usher audiences on a journey with the artists into collective dreamscapes and deep states of consciousness where the possible can be imagined and the true self envisioned.
