I dug into my crates for some of my favorite jams that likely wouldn’t make it into any other mixes. From funk to feel-good house to a bunch of classics, this mix has a bit of everyone to enjoy. It's that time again and as I find myself doing an Eclectronica writeup for the 13th year I think of how lucky I am to have discovered a passion for chill and beautiful music to carry me through my days and help so many more do the same. As I think about my lucky number I am reminded that though the number 13 was considered lucky in so many cultures in the past, colonialism has re-written its significance as it has with so many powerful symbols in so many cultures throughout history. While I thought about how I was going to put together this set and what kind of vibe it would need in order to do justice to such a powerful number I thought about the perceptions of good and bad and how so many concepts of right and wrong are often skewed by societal conditioning and even changing from minute to minute within our own minds. I thought about the struggles I have personally had to endure over the last three years and the ways I had to grow as I fought to follow the path of righteousness while my own inner turmoil fed me fear, resentment, and existential dread through the lens of my subconscious biases and the very real conscious harsh reality that my loved ones and I lived through.

And with that, I present to you Eclectronica Vol. 13 - Angels & Demons. I hope they inspire you to reconcile the light and dark parts of your inner world and recognize that without witnessing and giving space to both, one cannot be truly free to accept themselves for the challenges that make us who we are.

If it's a sound you can take it and manipulate it into as unique and personal an experience as you can imagine.

No genre is safe from anyone with a computer taking something they love and turning it into a new and exciting piece of art. It is by an infinite degree, the most comprehensive and inclusive form of artistic expression possible. Not matter what instrument you play, or whether you play one at all, you can record or create any sound you can imagine, create a rhythm and a melody and harmonize it with anything else your heart desires.

Disc 2 - Roll:
A heavier, bass fuelled, and driving experience through a wide array of cutting edge sound design that'll make you laugh, play, and shake your body.

Eclectronica Vol 14 - Rock

Eclectronica is about just that; Eclectic Electronica. The basis of doing these mixes is to share the other musics that I love with the world and spread that love as far as I can.

Disc 1 of this compilation is focused more on the more organic styles of down-tempo ranging from trip-hop and straight electronica to almost band like chill out beats with hints of many other genres. You will recognize a few old favorites and adopt some new ones too I'm sure with each one of these tracks being equally as diverse and moving. Make love to this disc and you'll be writing letters to trashy romance novelists ;)

I hope to create one of these double disc compilations for lovers and friends alike once a year or so. So here is yet another large piece of my heart to share.

Eclectronica Vol. 1 Deep

Due top my struggles with late stage capitalism I am later than ever to release this years duo of mixes and yet, I find myself releasing this at the perfect time.

This years's Eclectronica is volume 15 - One & Only, and I don't think there's been a more important moment to reflect on this theme.

We have one life, one planet, one voice, and one chance. This is the moment where we need to set aside all of our differences, disputes, past traumas and grievances and stand together for the final time against the rise of fascism. It's here in our face more obvious than it has ever been and even the most extreme victims of the propaganda machine are starting to wake up and see reality for what it is.

Authoritarianism is an unsustainable model of rule that governs with fear and never seems to learn the lesson that love always wins. Fear tries to bully what it doesn't understand into submission.

But you cannot bully love. Love is passion. When they use fear to back the world into a corner like a scared cat it is love that compels us to strike.

To rebel.

To live.

Love is bravery in the face of evil. Love is violent when necessary. Love stands up to fear until shrinks and cowers as it shivers away into the darkness.

If you love yourself, your tribe, and your planet then you must fight to protect it. Because the billionaires are not playing fair and it is time to get real. The pace of progress is accelerating and we are decades from either a permanent dystopia or a permanent utopia. Which one will you choose? I choose love. And I will do anything, and I mean anything, to protect it.

Stand up and fight. This is your one and only chance.

Disc 1 - Rock:
Vocals, vocals, and more vocals across a range of genres from pop and house to trap and chill dub. Sing your heart out and let go of the emotions in your body.

Disc 2 - Roll:
Bombastic beauty. Alluring bass for the human race. Probably the heaviest part 2 in the series yet and for good reason. This one is to fire your heart and give you the energy to take any action necessary to make this world a better place.

Pedro Canale crosses the mountains from Buenos Aires to bring us a new live set. With years of experience this artist develops his musical craftsmanship at the hands of Argentinian folklorist, Miriam Garcia, who bases her vocal work in the cultivation of ancestral compilations. Together with percussionist Feberico Estevez and violinist Heidi Lewandowski they recover lost songs of the valleys and hills of Argentina, making new sounds fall in love with ancient music of the earth and its roots.

Este artista, con años de trayectoria, desarrolla su artesanía musical de la mano de Miriam García, coplera argentina, que basa su trabajo vocal en el cultivo de recolecciones ancestrales. Here is my set from The Grove this year at Shambhala Music Festival.  What a dream come true to return to the farm in Salmo, BC and to one of my fav places on the planet!  Much Love to the whole Grove Fam for everything!  I hope to return again for a third time very soon! 
 Very very stoked to finally share all of this music.  This is a mere Glimpse into all the music i am sitting on and most i plan to release.  also a bit of a leap in styles and progress in production techniques!  There are 30 unreleased tracks up in here and i really love the journey they take you on, so I really hope you enjoy!

In 2013, The Detour Podcast was born.  A mixtape series to showcase the wide range of music we love, but don’t often get a chance to play in our DJ sets. Downtempo, trip-hop, disco, future bass, indie, liquid D&B, deep house, & world music were just some of the styles that quickly found a home in this project.  There is no better way to tell a story than through a mixtape and with each mix, we attempted to do just that. Curating a vibe to take the listener on a journey somewhere new and off the mainstream path is what the Detour Podcast is all about.   

The idea of guest mixes and collaborative mixes has been on our minds for sometime now, and wanting to do something for the 10th episode, we reached out to our friend Mt. Doyle.  Doyle’s mixes were always on heavy rotation for us with track selection and mixing which always felt to be on that Detour tip.  A few months ago we set up a collaborative dropbox and began sharing music and ideas and then each mixed a 40 minute section. We’re very happy to welcome Mt. Doyle to the Detour for this special edition of the Podcast and our first ever collaborative mix!
