Layma Jakin started spinning records in the mid-90s; by the age of 16, she was already playing at parties and raves across her home in Cádiz, influenced by the rising UK breaks and US breakbeat scenes that were beginning to resonate strongly in the south of Spain. After a season in Atlanta, where she first connected with turntables and funk, her sound began to take shape. She spent over a decade in Madrid, immersing herself in electro and techno, and honing a solid technique: three decks, melodies, grooves, and scratch as her signature. Now based in Mallorca, she has performed at events like Tramuntana Festival and Diskette Dance Format. Her sets are powerful and dynamic, blending old school, techno, trance, electro, and acid breaks, always mixed with own style and southern soul.

@laymajakin comienza a pinchar discos a mediados de los 90; a los 16 años ya pisaba cabinas y raves de su Cádiz natal, influenciada por la escena UK breaks y US breakbeat, que empezaba a sonar con fuerza en el sur. Tras una etapa en Atlanta, donde conectó por primera vez con los platos y el funk, su estilo fue tomando carácter. Pasó más de una década en Madrid, donde se volcó en el electro y el techno, y consolidó una técnica sólida: tres platos, melodías, bases y scratch como sello propio. Actualmente, residente en Mallorca, ha sido vista en eventos como Tramuntana Festival o Diskette Dance Format. Josephine’s Soundscapes is the moniker of Jose Salas, an audiovisual creator, art director, and active promoter of alternative culture in Madrid. When it comes to music, he has been an active participant in shaping Madrid’s underground electronic music scene for over 20 years. In recent years, he has founded and worked as artistic director, promoter, and DJ in club nights and platforms such as Club Paraíso Madrid, CALMA, and the independent creative cell a_mal_gam_a (Dance Cave; Avalovara, Listening Club; L’art Dance Club @ ARCO; and Festival En Pausa @ La Casa Encendida).

His work has continually evolved across a variety of cultural projects, both collective and personal. These include his seminal podcast Silly Europeans (2010–2016), his program Sonda Dispersa on Madrid’s public radio station M21, and his current projects such as Campos de Marte on Radio Relativa—a podcast dedicated to experimental music—and the curation of temple, the listening sessions at Espacio Perpendicular.
