"While nowadays underground music hits are being selected and pushed through applications that analyze and calculate the amount of followers, friends, likes, hits, posts and traffic on social media, music is getting more and more isolated from it's original function, being prostituted by companies that don't even listen to the actual content itself. So while they are counting likes and chase the next past hype we still try to focus on the actual essence of the game: music. The limited series of Frustrated Funks ever growing catalog now sees MinimalRome chief Heinrich Dressel explore aquatic territories below the surface of mud streams that rise high in the Apennine Mountains and flow to find their way to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Ancient legends of the Tiber River tell stories like the one of Rome's founders, the twin brothers Romulus and Remus, who were abandoned on it's waters and where they were rescued by a mystic she-wolf. Dressel tries to capture these great legends that lurk in the depth and surround the Roman area. Great music comes from great minds. Great minds are inspired by great stories. And no technical application can count or analyze the importance of that!"

Landforms is a split album between ambient artists Easychord (IT) and Forest Management (US). The two began discussing a possible collaboration during the Spring of 2014, e-mailing back and forth on various topics that border existentialism, the concept of "abyss", and a shared interest in nocturnal skyline viewing. After more than a year of busy schedules, Landforms has materialized - an album that represents a deeper conversation between two men on two different sides of the Atlantic.

Easychord music is a sort of mantra of perceptive sonic adventure, structured through the rhythmic alternation of layered loops, repetition, shapes and movements. Closer to the concept of the "sound of memory", his music represents a universe in itself, a primeval, haunting and amniotic world.

Forest Management (a.k.a. U.S. electronic musician John Daniel) uses digitally-processed recordings of sound sources like the piano and synthesizer to sculpt entirely new sonic hues, for the purpose of composition. His warm, fluorescent-like brand of drone has often been said to contain a cinematic, dream-like presence.

Eric Frye: Zenzizenzizenzic, 12-Channel Diffusion, Rochester Art Center, October 2, 2015 – November 15, 2015

As part of the 2015 3rd Floor Emerging Artist Series, Zenzizenzizenzic is a site-specific, 12-channel sound installation by Eric Frye, a Minneapolis-based artist. The exhibition’s title functions as an onomatopoeia (a word that phonetically appears as the sound that it describes) that linguistically mirrors an abstraction of sound one might experience in the work. Focusing on the concept of sonic objects, the listener is asked to question both the reliability of their own senses, and the materiality of sound. Investigating the perceptual organization of sound, Frye exposes the objecthood of sonic events and emphasizes the spatial aspects of compositional structures. Listeners experience the sound installation by constructing personal navigations within a sound-filled space, and are asked to consider what happens when the human and sound relationship is acutely reconfigured.

Though silent as Ulaan Khol for the past few years, Steven R. Smith has been as busy as ever writing & recording for tangential projects Ulaan Markhor and Ulaan Passerine.  Ulaan Khol may not have seen the same attention as of late, but is the nexus of Smith's current endeavors, and is his longest-running project as well.  Seven years after the first Ulaan Khol release arrived, Smith continues to utilize the platform to fuse the confluence of New Zealand free noise, Australian post-punk and art-rock, and Japanese underground psych (a la PSF Records) with his own palette.  Smith presents his own personal strain of psychedelic guitar exploration, alternating between blistering, hypnotic and meditative, with his scorching guitar firmly at the center.  Salt is the latest chapter.
