Jose Macabra, is an artist, sound designer, producer, video director, radio DJ/podcast maker and curator. 

Jose teaches Sound Arts and Music Production at the London College of Communications, UAL and other educational establishments. His work nourishes many influences, from the industrial and noise panoramas, together with a legion of related genres such as ritual and the darker flavours of techno, blended with sound art, soundscape, art brut and experimental music.
 
Jose has worked with and for Kimatica Studio, Persona Collective, Ernesto Tomasini, Ron Athey, HR. Giger, Sally Mann, J. Milo Taylor, Nicola Serra, Christian Duka, Martin Delaney, Eraldo Bernocchi, FFIN DANCE Company, Rum Luck Theatre Company, Persona Collective, UCL, UAL, SAE Institute, HMPPS Belmarsh and Unite the Union, to name a few.
 
Jose Macabra has performed in art establishment venues, including Barbican, Tate Modern, National Gallery X, Oxford University, Tate Liverpool, BFI, The Photographer's Gallery, Waterman's Centre, The Museum of Consciousness, Camberwell College of Arts, London College of Communication and Kent University. Works involving Jose's music and sound design have toured significant festivals in London, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Hamburg, Athens, Brussels, Milan, Barcelona, Lisbon, Manchester, Liverpool and other cultural centres.
 
Jose's research interests include Electronic Music, Field Recording, Noise Music, Industrial Music, Improvisation, Sound Art, Performance Art, Queer Studies, Ritual Art Practice, Collaborative Practice, Altered States of Consciousness through Sound, Horror, Darkness, Film, Surrealism, Automatic Writing and  Spatial Audio.

"Pardon my early exit; Hope you survive!" is an open multimedia platform existing as a solitary experiment at times, at others as a shared journey along fellow creators equipped with a mis//matched approach and fascination towards sound.
I also utilise it as a cathartic self help tool for finding semi-sanity.

an obsessive/compulsive collector interested in what others reject/can't find use for.
to give it a new life, name, identity, a different meaning.
mixing analogue/digital equipment, electroacoustic techniques with electronics, percussive vocals, real life samples and broken melodies.
loud or quiet, clean or distorted, rhythm without beats, a bit of rhythm,thinking of dancing, dancing without thinking, no preconceptions, maximalist sometimes, other times using restraint and limitations as a tool to reach further, sink deeper, spread out wider and then again shrink.
in the world I inhabit sound and image work together or against each other.
hearing becomes a spiderweb to capture the other senses.to alter dimensions.
sometimes a guess,all ways a bet, never ready.

"Pardon my early exit; Hope you survive!" shapes  up near the end of the first decade of the new millennium, as a continuation, expansion and  'memento mori' of "Devotchka.s Conundrum", the masked duet sound project which had started this sonic exploration in Londons underground noise scene experimental underbelly a few years earlier, fast living and young dieing.

My search takes many disguises, such as site specific installations, especially in places other than art galleries, creation of other spaces through soundscapes, sonic walks and interventions, live performances, often collaborative efforts inviting the destruction of the divide between audience and performer, calling for a more participant interaction of the former,  alternative realities via sonic illusions and sensory deprivation, random sound chaos rituals, collective  invocations of the aural gods, goddesses and sonic daemons... 

Since its researching and wandering started, "Pardon my early exit: hope you survive!" got involved with beHind bars Collective in london and barcelona, blew up schwarzer Kanal's sound system In Berlin,  playing along  experi-mentalists of sound from all corners, such as Big City Orchestrae, Meira Asher, Yann Keller & Jan Schlaeger, Hermann Kopp, before almost killing itself while setting up its own funeral waves at Milk and Lead Art Gallery. Further actions happened at Interzone and KaosLondon by Lee Adams, Cafe Oto, Abattoir,  London Underground Film Festival, Undogmatisch in Berlin, on the Ms Stubnitz German ship... invites to participate remain open.

A/Ona is a musician, DJ and party promoter. Since moving to Berlin in  2006 she has developed diverse projects, including the launch of Poopsy  Club, an underground party that formed and inspired queer identities and  experiences in Berlin, and the techno-industrial events Drone and Kerosene.

As a drummer and bassist she played in the bands Fucking Barbies (Rome) - Dark Skies Association (with Molly Nilsson) and Mary and the Baby Cheeses (with  Mary Ocher), in Berlin. In 2012 A/Ona created the event Drone-Techno Industrial Injektion of which she was the artistic curator and DJ resident. A/Ona is the head chef of the musical project HOW, as well as the co-founder of the no longer active experimental duo TOISE.
