Celebrating their 100th release, John Johnson's ICONYC imprint calls upon one of electronic music's brightest talents to reflect on the label's story thus far. Hailing from Cordoba, Ezequiel Arias has grown into one of Argentina's most prodigious progressive house producers. Upon making his debut in 2013, Ezequiel became a favourite of both Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. A 2017 appearance on Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records proved to be a pivotal point in the Argentine's career, eventually leading to his first remix for ICONYC later that summer. Now regarded as one of 2017's best tracks, Ezequiel's interpretation of 'Tell Me' by Galestian & Mira J enjoyed an unprecedented six month long stay in Beatport's Progressive House tracks chart, while earning consistent play from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Khen and many other A-list DJs. After rounding out 2017 with a release on Cid Inc's Replug Records, Ezequiel took another leap forward with his debut EP for Sudbeat Music in 2018, further solidifying his place amongst the progressive house elite. Now embarking on the biggest project of his young career, ICONYC hands over its label catalog for Ezequiel to craft two 90 minute mixes, highlighting a medley of the imprints finest moments. For a label that has amassed such an impressive discography the Argentinean DJ was spoilt for choice. Over a two year period ICONYC has curated a catalog that is fresh and comprehensive in equal measure, a sonic platform where new talent is nourished to grow and scene veterans shine. Beginning the journey in methodical fashion with two electronica cuts from the hugely up and coming Dutch duo Huminal, Ezequiel then goes on to program a sound story to get truly lost in. Highlighted by cuts from Alex O'Rion, Cid Inc., BP, Framework, Kamilo Sanclemente, Danny Lloyd, Praveen Achary, Li-Polymer, Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic, Dmitry Molosh, Andre Sobota, Filter Bear and Ezequiel himself, it amounts to three hours of the finest, most cutting edge melodic house the underground has to offer. Two stunning mixes from one of the scenes brightest and most hyped young talents. For as memorable as the first one hundred releases have been for ICONYC, the future holds even more promise, as the label further diversifies its sonic palette, launching a new chapter in their history with the birth of the 'Noir' division. A Russian artist with a rapidly growing reputation, Izzet returns to Particles with the brand new "Summer Goodbye" including remixes from UK and Dutch artists.

Marking his first release on NewBorn Records in 2010, Izzet has gone on to feature for the likes of Clinique Recordings and Proton Limited before making his debut on Particles with "Shadows and Dust" as part of the "Winter 2018" compilation in January. A remix of Rafa'El's "Twin Flames" followed in June, before "Timer Set" saw an appearance on the "Summer 2018" compilation. Reprised here, the brand new "Summer Goodbye" ripples with smooth flowing melodic lines that permeate Izzet's work. Within a four/four framework that comprises punchy kick and subtle percussive groove, textured pads gently pulsate in wave live fashion while ethereal vocals and shimmering arpeggio glitter like jewels on a sun-kissed sea. Tinged with an air of melancholy, the title is aptly represented in sonic form as a beautiful chord progression evolves through the mid-point breakdown.

UK producer, Bluum, has had a 2018 to remember. Regular appearances on the Paul Thomas led FSOE UV after a February 2018 debut, "Glide" offered a taste of what was to come. A series of expertly crafted tracks followed, including "Rodea", "Kepler" and "Weyland", while a remix of Aly and Fila's "Rebirth" was magisterial. A quartet of appearances on the Visceral compilation series enhanced a growing reputation as 2019 sees a release on the all-conquering mau5trap. Hitting its stride with thumping beat and chunky percussive groove, the Bluum remix of "Summer Goodbye" takes Izzet's track and creates a wonderful new driving bassline gem that bristles with power and emotion. A collage of melodies evolves making intelligent use of original components while developing in a new and vibrant direction, before erupting in the third movement to demonstrate Bluum's growing stature and sparkling production technique.

Niels Schilder is another artist with a strong reputation within the underground dance arena through his Malbetrieb production moniker. Via his music for a collection of blue-chip labels that include Selador, ATLANT and Click Records, supported by the DJ elite of Eelke Kleijn, Robert Babicz and Patrice Baumel, Malbetrieb's analogue infused work continues to attract widespread attention. A May 2018 remix of Dousk's "French Sauce" represented a notable highlight amongst over a century of production credits and it is with delight that we welcome the Dutch artist to Particles with a typically impressive remix. Taking on "Timer Set", the Malbetrieb remix builds on the central melodic themes of Izzet's original by producing a brooding, delay-drenched "Dub Mix" that sees a stripped back rhythmic framework provide a solid foundation for a rippling arpeggio to wax and wane across the nine-minute offering. Simultaneously, subtle phrasing from the original creates a stunning new interpretation.

As Bluum and Malbetrieb provide the perfect antidote to winter gloom, Izzet's "Summer Goodbye" is a welcome new arrival.

2019 is here and we are thrilled to bring on the new year with even more well selected music to your ears, we are working hard to bring on the full artillery of tunes through PHW Elements and we are delighted to see the return of Ricardo Piedra on the label. The hard working producer, based in Finland, is a producer that we always held high. With his creative style, bringing on new ideas highly frequently, we of course melted when he sent through this brilliant production named as “Badilua”. With his great style of building progressive music, blending great grooves with deep and emotional structures, he surely delivers another deep progressive masterpiece, filled with great atmosphere, tension and well working melodic arrangements. 

We like to flavour the releases we bring on with others ideas as well and this time we see 2 new acts taking a spot in our ever growing PHW Elements family with Sri Lankan duo  Danidu & Hasith taking their first steps on the label. Being known from the past for delivering their high octane progressive vibe, they surely strikes with a winner here as they deliver their full artillery of techniques to create a super skilled journey to bring out all the best of their minds. We are excited to see them join us of course!

We also see Italy's finest Christian Monique joining for the first time. He’s a producer that we have kept track of for a long time and when we got the chance to hook up with him on the label it was a big yes to that with no further thoughts about it. He’s been a great influence on the scene for a long time and his creativity has always been something we have been weak for. He has built a smooth hypnotical journey packed with great atmosphere and crisp sound design. This is a rocking beauty from start to finish and we dare you to not miss out on it. 

We are as excited as ever to bring all the guys on through out ever growing imprint, we surely hope you will like what you hear!
