“How young men grew up, travelled the world and crossed borders they had never expected to…” This is how you could start, telling the story of LASTING TRACES. What started back in 2007 as “wild jamming in a rehearsal room somewhere in the middle of nowhere”, turned piece by piece “from a weekend-romance into a stable relationship”. Initially satisfied with its self-titled demo (April 2008) and occasional gigs at the local youth centre, the band’s standards and demands soon grew on the same levels. 

The release of the single “Portraits” in summer 2009 was followed by a first small tour in Germany and Poland. “Show ourselves and leave an impression, no matter the cost”, the priorities were crystal clear during that time. At the beginning of 2010 LASTING TRACES put out a split 7” and toured in East- and Middle-Europe, as well as in the United Kingdom. 

After being home again, once more there was songwriting on the agenda of LASTING TRACES, but this time it had to be an album – the ultimate discipline. “With a lot of enthusiasm but also respect we started working” and so already in May 2011, they were able to hold their first long-player “Old Hearts Brake In Isolation” in their own hands. To guess what was about to follow is quite easy because LASTING TRACES know the 101 of punk and hardcore off pat: “Tour, play and cause quite a stir.” The live-activities reached a peak in summer 2012 when the band travelled to Asia for two weeks, to experience, next to number of shows, the continent, the people and unexpected hospitality. The adventures that the guys wouldn’t even have dreamt of some years before had turned into reality just by their own music and personal devotion. 

At the same time there were also some changes going on inside the band. Changes in the line-up and the questions concerning the future musical path of LASTING TRACES, were the leading parameters during that period. With the making of a new 7” called “Elements” at the beginning of the 2013, the plan manifested to take a step back from the “typical” fast hardcore, turn down the tempo but anyway to write massive songs that contain a little pop-appeal. 

In summer 2013 finally the songwriting for the follow-up to “Old Hearts Break In Isolation” commenced. “To write a second album was an absolute mammoth task for us. After all we didn’t want to repeat ourselves or just trust on the tried and true. Build up new structures, create new ideas and implement them, stay LASTING TRACES, continue an evolution – all these points played an equally important role when we were writing the new songs.” In cooperation with producer Arkadi Zaslavski, who “supported, cursed and complemented our ideas,” the band was able to record its second longplayer in spring 2014 following its own ideas. On September 4, 2015 “You & Me” is released worldwide as download and stream via Redfield Digital and on vinyl via Demons Run Amok Entertainment. The title summarizes whom the album is dedicated to, who is fuelling LASTING TRACES and what it is about.

In the early part of 2017, Dutch super-producer, Roger Martinez, graced the Proton Music catalogues with the deep rich grooves of his "Dream State" EP. As we now return to Martinez's twin-track offering, a pair of remixes from Ukrainian and UK talents provides new sustenance.

Consistently managing to make his mark within the underground dance industry, Stas Drive has remained at the forefront of both Ukraine and Russia's electronic music scene. A highly-regarded DJ, producer and promoter, his performances behind the decks at the likes of the famous Kazantip festival, have earned Stas a strong reputation across continental Europe. Production talent has shone in tandem with work in the live arena and a double century of credits tell their own story about the success of the Stas Drive sound. An appearance on Nick Warren's ground-breaking "The Soundgarden" in June 2014 with the beautiful "Arujna", coupled with a remix of Navid Mehr for Sudbeat in January 2015, have been notable career highlights as Stas has seen his music supported by a DJ elite that includes, Cattaneo, Sasha and Digweed. Furthermore, Stas has become a regular on the uber-cool Chapter 24 Records imprint with several high-profile releases planned throughout the remainder of 2017.

A pair of remixes of Scotty.A and Navar in 2015 and 2016 have illuminated the Stas Drive production talent thus far and it is a delight to welcome him back to Proton Music for a third time with an impeccable reworking of Roger Martinez. Taking a fresh, new approach to "Deep", the Stas Drive remix is full of hallmark rhythmic subtlety and melodic variation. Underpinned by a throbbing bass groove and sinister edge, melodic effects pepper the mid-range frequencies alongside textured pads and a modulated ambient bed that creates an eerie atmosphere. The result is an impressive and innovative rework with clever use of Martinez's original components.

UK born and Austrian based, Dan Baseley is a name that has discovered a rising tide of success with his Orsen soubriquet since a 2014 debut for Optimized Recordings. An artist with a unique approach to his craft, his vision flows through a "love for multiple styles of electronic music, unusual field recordings and sound design". With such attention to detail, Orsen's magnetic field has attracted support from fans and peers across the globe with his music played by such luminaries as Nick Warren, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo. The "Komorebi" EP for the latter's Sudbeat imprint in early 2016 highlighted this exalted position, as has work for Perspectives Digital, 3rd Avenue and Replug. Furthermore, Orsen's duties as label manager for the Cid Inc. owned imprint have seen his own work blossom and mature on the label.

A regular on Particles with his sound encapsulated by the "Elysium" EP in June 2015, Orsen's two remixes for Proton Music have opened up his distinctive sound to an ever-expanding audience. Reinterpretations of Mondkrater and Luc Angenehm are now complemented by a third which sees Orsen take a typically creative path in his reimagining of Roger Martinez's title track. A wonderful, stepped analogue sequence creates a flowing groove for a percussive section, redolent in layered off-beat claps, to nestle alongside strong beat and ticking hi-hats. Building effortlessly through a stripped back breakdown of aural creativity, the third movement once again picks up the rhythmic movement with the addition of a sublime delayed melody and Orsen's imaginative additional production material.

Remixes from Stas Drive and Orsen have seen Roger Martinez enter a new realm of consciousness within his "Dream State".

Impatient, as we are, we had to hear their stories. Skillfully combining influences, sounds and experiences from east and west, they translated their stories to a new EP, oozing with drama, melancholy and determination.

The EP describes itself as the soundtrack for an adventure to mysterious outskirts around the globe, starting with 'Whale Parade'. This prelude brings you to a hidden land after wandering through forests for many months. Guitar, piano and percussion gently move in and carry you away. By the second track, All Day I Zama, a slow beat dictated by a banket of percussion evolves to a vigorous and groovy track with moaning vocals as the main theme.

In title track Gold Town, you will settle yourself in a covered wagon, heading for dodgy settlements on a misty mountain range, accompanied by a grieving trumpet.

As the wagon slows to a crawl, Ghajar emerges, a downtempo emotion-filled song, where the piano and a scorching synth interchange melodies and tales."

An artist consistently at the summit of the electronic dance scene from his Israeli home, Matan Caspi has continued to develop a growing fan base paralleled with platinum support. Bringing these talents to Particles, we are delighted to welcome Matan back to the label with a debut original EP in the shape of "Undersound".

Always highly sought after in his production work, the turn of the decade provided Caspi with the breakthrough that saw him become one of the industry's global stars. DJ performances in a two-year period between 2010 and 2012 saw him visit over twenty countries, captivating audiences with his "diverse spectrum of musical styles". A hard-earned production career has run in tandem with an ever-increasing number of live performances and more than a thousand production credits flowing from Matan's fingertips since early work for the likes of Enormous Tunes and Unreleased Digital in 2009.

Since then, a prolific output has provided a slew of best-selling tracks in a variety of genres, from "groovy progressive house to tech house, techno and deep house". Thus, the distinctive Matan Caspi sound can be found on the compilations of Sander Kleinenberg and Sultan and allied to such leading labels as Pacha, Global Underground and the mighty Spinnin' Records. In addition, 2011 saw the formation of his own Outta Limits Recordings in conjunction with global icon, Stan Kolev, which has become the home for some of the industry's leading lights including, Ad Brown, Ben Coda and Dinka.

Renowned and revered, support from across the dance music spectrum, from Eric Prydz and Tiesto to Nick Warren and Joris Voorn, has seen Matan Caspi feature heavily in the sets and radio shows of the DJ glitterati. A Particles career that began in 2016 with a pair of remixes for Li-Polymer and Rick Pier O'Neil and Desaturate, is now extended with a twin-track original EP in "Undersound".

The title track is a dark, brooding affair that bristles with trademark Matan Caspi polish. A chunky rhythm and smooth, rich bass line are a perfect blend of seductive groove as an emotive melody emerges from the lower frequency. Pausing at a stripped back breakdown, a haunting and loquacious vocal line creates further atmosphere as intelligently placed plucked motifs glitter across the stereo spectrum. The resultant work oozes class and skill.

"After the Storm" continues the carefully orchestrated atmospheres and layers that accompany the Matan Caspi sound. A dominant kick, combined with hypnotic bass provide the perfect anchor for freeform melodic lines to coruscate through the mid-range, honing into full sonic view in another haunting breakdown. Vocal lines rise above the melodic sequences and the evocative offering perfectly conjures up aural images of the calm, 'after the storm', replete with birdsong and ambient effects that only enhance Caspi's sonic architecture.

A twin-track offering of impressive scope and technique has provided Matan Caspi with continued success "Undersound".
