Paul Deep continues developing his repertoire and returns to the label with 'Mind Destructor'.

Its been a busy few years for the Argentinian artist since his last appearance in 2020. Signings to The Soundgarden, Mango Alley and Tale&Tone have kept his diverse fanbase, including high profile stars such as Eelke Kleijn and Maceo Plex, updated. 

Opening with the tough chunky groove of 'Mind Destructor', were quickly up to speed. Content to find its place on the floor and slowing intensify, the track grows organically over the first half with subtle synth lines powering forward. In the break, they reach fever pitch before the beat drops and room erupts, arms aloft. 

'Amenotejikara' takes a deeper, more melodic path. Airy atmospheres and percussive energy lead the way as synths creep into earshot adding tension. The ebb and flow of the arps gives palpable release to the tension. A true progressive earworm.  

Rounding out the EP, 'Indigo' continues the subtle carnival flavours with a groovy bongo-led closer. A more pronounced bassline from the drop, gritty saw-toothed edginess bites in the low end as one-shots and an eerie vocal provides high frequency ear candy.

Launching their Meanwhile Horizons imprint with suitable flair in August 2021 with “Beyond The Horizon”. Initially through a quartet of sparkling tracks, GMJ & Matter return to the series with a second edition. Seven new pieces now showcase the talents of established and newcomers alike within “Beyond The Horizon Volume 2”.

Fresh from his “We Are One” EP for Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Zankee Gulati opens the compilation with the atmospheric “The Magic Spoon”. Redolent in rolling percussive groove and thickly textured pads, a rippling arpeggio paves the way for a laconic lead synth to meander across the 9-minute piece, taking centre stage at the breakdown. Typically deep and brooding, Meanwhile regular, Imran Khan, highlights a raft of production magic within “Serenity”. Immaculately woven sonic patterns meander across the aptly named track as modulated pads and layered sequences mingle deliciously together. A heavy beat and regular off-beat percussion add to the trademark mesmerising vibe.

Following up on September 2022’s “Space Walk” EP, Covsky joins forces with newcomer, Frais, as the pair hit the ground running with “Sands of Time”. Full of emotion, a wonderful sub-bass groove creates a flawless foundation for a suite of elegant melodic layers to weave an imaginative sonic picture, reaching a rousing crescendo at the mid-point before bursting into life in the second half. A Horizons debutant, Federico Puentes, paints an evocative aural landscape as “Autumn Leaves” delivers a meticulous percussive framework within which smooth motifs and breathy vocal counterweight, flow in repeated patterns. Pausing for breath to let the melodic elements shine, the second half continues to paint the vivid melodic patterns of earlier movements.

Another Meanwhile first-timer with releases on Mango Alley, The Soundgarden and Keyfound, Billka makes a powerful impression with his delicate “Promises”. A repeated bassline and synth motif belies its simplicity as emotion is built midway via sublime vocal sequences. Coupled with deep kick and light percussive air, the track flourishes to a masterful sonic conclusion. UK producer, Fabreeka, has witnessed an impressive rise to prominence since a 2019 debut for Mistique Music, and his “Dream Path” is full of innovative motifs that blend together to create the perfect symbiotic whole. Through strong rhythm and rolling hi-hat groove, the track reaches its zenith in the third movement to striking effect.

The final track sees GMJ return to familiar ground with his Qiam alter-ego. Making his debut on “Beyond the Horizon”, “Light Recall” is a masterfully produced ambient piece that glistens with sonic stardust. Deliciously textured pads modulate across the left/right spectrum, while discordant analogue synth patterns play out in pitched delays before powerful bassline and vocal effects lift the track through its latter stages. Intelligently imagined, a raft of layers delivers intrigue and innovation in equal measure.

As UK Independent electronic music label Selador Recordings approaches its 10th anniversary, preparations to mark the occasion are well underway.

The imprint was started by Dave Seaman & Steve Parry back in 2013 and has been at the forefront of club culture for the last decade, bringing its mantra of quality House and Techno and all shades in-between to clubbers and music fans around the globe.

The label’s distinctive rabbit head logo has become a byword for genuine quality and consistency in a saturated marketplace - so it’s only fitting that fate has decreed that the birthday coincides with the Year of the Rabbit.

Selador are planning a series of celebratory releases befitting of this milestone, with an array of artists who’ve appeared on the label over the last decade being invited to collaborate on tracks together. It’s an impressive list which showcases the respect in which original Acid House Lifers Dave and Steve are held.

As per with Selador, it’s a truly international affair, with every continent represented. The mouth-watering partnerships include:

Mäno Pa is a young DJ & producer with a futuristic approach and techno-ethereal vibe very pleasant to the scene.

He has landed to our imprint with a 3-tracker stunning EP called "Another Life Found" full of ethereal-synth perspective which is melting with the melodic techno-based sounds.

The leading track is “Another Life Found” with its rich textures and teasing synth lines. Has a magnificent anticipation with a beautiful floating melody, shimmering arps and warm comforting chords that draw you into their world. The cleverly arranged leads adds a tension element to pull on your emotions. The huge breakdown ensure DJs can drop this track at a special point to captivate the crowd before creating a release of energy in the room.

Mano Pa - Nevermore (Original Mix)

A new artist to grace the Particles roster, Nassif Abi Jaoudé has found his music featured on the likes of ICONYC, A Must Have and Hydrogen in a nascent portfolio under his NorCal Junkie moniker, stretching back to a March 2017 debut. Now making his Particles debut, "Gaya Revisited" is a beautifully sculpted track that develops a range of melodic themes and vocal hints across a backdrop of deep driving beat and shaker percussion. Adding a filtered and stereo-panned arpeggio to the mix adds dancefloor energy, while a sumptuous bass groove and layered soundscapes create a smooth and emotive affair. Partner track, "Bolonia" immediately impresses with its hypnotic arpeggio and intermittent motifs. Adding a chorus of effects and newly minted synth chords in the second half adds to the sonic picture as the driving rhythmic character of the title track is in full evidence throughout the rousing 9-minute aural collage.

A name that has become synonymous with the early success of John Digweed's Bedrock, Pole Folder is an iconic name within the underground dance industry. A Proton Music and Particles regular with a score of credits dating back to 2006 and including the "A Glimpse into the Past", "Serengeti" and "Mara" EPs for the former, plus their corollary remix editions on the latter, Particles now welcomes back the Belgian star with a very special reworking of "Gaya Revisited". Full of the trademark melodic prowess that has made Pole Folder such a celebrate name, new flowing melodies entwin easily with NorCal Junkie's original components to create a stunning new arrangement. Evolving through a strong beat and offbeat hats, an elegant piano sequence drifts through the second half as subtle strings and themes resonant in the original find their place in a sublime and evocative new remix.

Michael Chihaka is no stranger to the Particles imprint with a score of original and remix material that has seen the "Nyarara", "Pinda", "Ndarasika" and "Hupenyu" EPs span a 4-year period after a 2019 debut. Remixes for the likes of Ric Niels, Pole Folder, about : river and Maudlin have shown another side to the South African's skills as the Chihaka remix of "Gaya Revisited" enthrals with a majestic and emotive arrangement that uses the central synth refrain from the original and builds a new melodic soundscape around it. Centred around a spine-tingling piano phrase, the track lilts enticingly along its path, accompanied by a sublime vocal counterpoint melody that flows into the breakdown before blossoming on the other side with skill, poise and delicate energy.

With melodic grace and elemental vibrancy, NorCal Junkie radiates warmth with "Gaya Revisited".

Bucking the trend of modern artists, Hicky & Kalo made their name for carving out a niche in the underground scene as resident DJs at the one of its kind Stereo Club in Montreal, as well as landing releases on some progressive house top labels such as Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo and Replug. And of course by spreading great music trough their own imprint, Plaisir Sonores.

The EP opens with ‘Coming Back Home’, where a dark groove emerges with spiky bass. Lightening the track, pretty arps dance playfully as heavily effected vocal ad libs add depth. One for the late floors waiting for the sun to make its first appearance of the day. 
‘From Sea to Sea’ continues the trend; deep satisfying low end grooves juxtaposed by breezy arps. A muscular, and ultimately danceable floor filler. 
Finally, the pair lay down some ‘Wisdom’(!), a lighter number with tons of character. Ethereal and uplifting, the groove is richly melodic and hypnotic from the off.

Producers are the backbone of any label; developing supportive and genuine relationships with our artists is the core principle of TOR's development. Our 'Amis' series is an ode to the figures that we feel are at the foundation of the label's journey thus far.

To kick off the Amis series on TOR, there was truly only one man for the job. Wassu will always hold a special mantle at the TOR imprint, as the man who inaugurated the label with his Andu EP in 2020. Since then, the New Yorker has turned heads with a string of prolific releases on the likes of Anjunadeep, All Day I Dream, and When We Dip XYZ. With each passing project, Wassu's mastery of warm melodies and boastful basslines deepens, showcasing the ever-evolving sound of the wizardly Wassu.

It's safe to say that Wassu has outdone himself on this one, welcoming a widespread community of producers into the fold.
