“무당 / Mudang”

A mudang is a Korean shaman who practices the art of mu. Traditionally, they are future tellers and spiritual healers. This song tells a story about a mudang who is able to see into the futures of other people and heal them, yet are unable to use this ability to help themselves. A seer who cannot see. A healer who is self sabotaging. A blind prophet descending into madness. This song is the core of our new k-goth EP called “Premonitions” slated to be released on December Friday the 13th. It is metaphorical to the dread of knowing. The dread of paralyzing sadness. The dread of being witness to a dystopian future unfolding before our eyes. Pre-save it on Spotify. Pre-order it on Bandcamp. December Friday the 13th.

The cover art is drawn by our wonderful synth player and artist æther. It was inspired by the Korean bujeok (a talisman that shamans use to ward evil spirits away) and the three headed pigeon that , in Korean myth, symbolizes calamity.
