DnB has been really filling my cup lately.  Before a few months ago, It was a genre that never grabbed me.  Things changed and I’ve been slowly collecting what, to me, are the best tracks - just as I always try to do, no matter what I decide to play.  I did my homework and, as with any genre, you gotta sift through all the BS to get to the good stuff.  A little over two decades of spinning and it's my first ever Drum & Bass mix.

This shit lit a firecracker in my ass - giving me intermittent flashbacks of how good it felt when I first got into underground dance music.  Ironically, as upbeat and fast as it can be, it engulfs me with a sense of tranquility...It's been so refreshing both chillin and rockin out to these cuts.  I can only imagine what the UK rave scene was like back in the 90s.  I may have missed out on a pivotal moment in the scene and art at the time, but I am glad I feel the way I do about it at this time.

That being said, I dedicated this mix to tearing down those mental 'fences' that need it, having the strength to walk away from anything that holds us back, and to the inevitability of change as part of our human experience.

This week we stamp your passport for a brand new country, as Spain awaits! Finally making the trip to this beautiful country, there could only be one outfit that fits the bill. Over the last ten years, the musical adventure connecting David López and Carlos Cruz (Lopezhouse) has created an important niche in the electronic music scene.  

 After a series of purely underground releases, the duo burst onto the international scene in 2015 thanks to the single 'Mude Tod' released on the prolific Dirtybird label run by Claude VonStroke. Since then, the La Mancha duo growth hasn’t stopped, dropping releases on such important European labels as Berlin’s Exploited or Solomun’s Diynamic Music.   It was around this time that Lopezhouse were noticed by the electronic music legend John Digweed. He was so impressed with them he had them signed to Bedrock Records almost immediately! 

Over the years LopezHouse have released tracks on different labels such as the enigmatic 'Murnau' on the German label Kittball Records, or the renowned 'Crosses and Angels' released on Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records, one of the biggest names in Progressive House. It was this production that appeared on the 2016 Tomorrowland compilation, and on John Digweed's Live In Brooklyn release, recorded at Output. These releases made it possible for the La Mancha duo to perform at the popular Belgian festival in 2016. 

They also had a track, chosen by Solomun, on the 9th edition of the ‘Four to the Floor’  Diynamic Records compilation. This compilation contains tracks that the founder of the label personally chooses because they are ‘made for the dancefloor’. With this purpose, he chose 'Dark Place', a track Solomun played in every set in 2017! 

Also in 2017 LopezHouse debuted on Bedrock, introducing the EP ‘November Clouds/Otsaila’. In 2018 they released the EP ‘Barred Out’ on Valencian label Sincopat with Sascha Robotti, and the EP ‘Motorik’ on Suara Music, a track that both Sasha and John chose as one of the 10 best tracks of 2018. They also released the highly praised EP ‘Arratsaldean’ featuring a masterful remix by techno baron Dave Clarke.  On Bedrock, their EPs ‘Something Is Happening’ (2019) ‘Sunburst’ (2020) & Vostok (2021) were all released to critcal acclaim, followed (last, but not least) in 2021 by ‘Apollo’ their first full-length work.   It is their most daring and experimental work up to date, moving away from the dance floor with a mixture of Kraut & Post-rock essences, in tune with other styles like Ambient, Synth-wave and dark Disco. It can be considered as a turning point in their career that starts 2022 with renewed energy. LopezHouse will be offering the public a new live show full of soul, character and quality that looks to continue the last decades upwards trajectory.

Musician, Co founder of Wildwood and head curator of the @wildwoodpodcastseries. 

Pat Tassone is an electronic music artist from Melbourne, Australia, co-founder of community events company Wildwood, and founder and co-curator of the Wildwood Podcast Series. Over his fifteen-year career he has supported many of the world’s leading acts and played at most of Melbourne’s prestigious festivals, clubs and parties.

Some of his more notable performances were on the Market Stage at Rainbow Serpent Festival, main stages at Babylon Festival, Burning Seed Festival and closing sets at the legendary Wildwood gatherings. Also included are warm up sets for Sasha (UK), Khen (ISL), Marc Romboy (GER) Thylacine (FRA) and Agents of Time (ITA), and warm down sets for Sebastien Leger (FRA), Roger Martinez (NED), Jeremy Olander (SWE), and Stephan Bodzin (GER).

With a style, hard to lock into one particular genre his music can be described as a unique blend of Progressive house, Deep House and Techno. Each set is a carefully crafted journey that differs from the last, patience and timing are key with each track playing its role in creating the atmosphere and flow.   

His passion for music has played a huge role in the success of the Wildwood Podcast Series. It is now one of the premier electronic music podcasts in Australia and is one of the most respected podcasts worldwide.
