I was inspired to arrange this after watching a documentary on The Eagles... A sort of baroque meets latin jazz performed by a poor man's Al Dimeola. Hopefully Glenn Frey won't "kick my ass"... haha.

I love this old Hoagy Carmichael song, I always feel an emotional buzz from its simple and direct lyrics wherever and whenever I play it. Right now, it has a special meaning and so it's time for a new version, time to dust off the bass clarinet and make a quartet arrangement.

thoughts on Gwen

a striking mane she galloped across the green
grass sprung like velvet with deep moss
from the shaded mottled light that cast

flitting shadows across the flaxen gold
in my dreams she lives like her music
shrill sweet notes that never rest

her ashes danced down the volcanic plug
her golden haired sons followed the meandering

Here's a track that is a bit surreal for me. Collaborating on my first jazz track ever with two of the most talented people on SoundCloud - Pavithra Chari and Derek Cornett. This one started as a bass line that I had been toying with for some time and as I brought structure and lyrics to it, I knew that I had to convince Pav to sing it - which she did expertly! I tried doing the lead guitar parts but quickly realized that my jazz riffs were sounding a bit more like blues than I'd care to admit - so I asked Derek if he would like to do the lead parts on the track, which he thankfully agreed to. The song is inspired by my wife's obsession with red guitars.
