Paul2b (@paul2b) is a french dj and vinyl collector based in Paris, drawing on influences that range from Micro to Ambient & Deep Techno. His music is a combination of natural, organic sounds and hypnotic atmospheres. Welcome to the 72nd chapter of the Deep Electronics Podcast. This time mixed by Lars leonhard. A mixture full of texture, rhythm, deepness and more. So enjoy this special set!

Bio:

Lars Leonhard was born in 1973 in Hilden (Duesseldorf). In Lars’ early childhood he recognized his passion for music. In the early 90’s he decided to produce his own music. His affinity to electronically music leads him to ambient, dub techno and deep house music.
The electro musician Lars Leonhard from Düsseldorf/Germany focuses on suggestive sounds. 15 years ago, he made his first experiences with industrial and easy listening productions. At that time, he established his sound basis for his in 2002 founded punk rockband „Chaos Digital“. Till their breakup in 2006 , the band created catchy songs like „Keine wie Du“ for the local music scene.
Concurrently to concerts and performances, Lars worked solely on his own tracks followed by TV jingles for brands and a soundtrack for a graffiti documentation by Robert Kaltenhäuser. Four years ago, he went to Japan and worked temporarily for the German Pavilion during the World Fair „Expo 2005“.  For his further career, he uses his own name „Lars Leonhard“ to proceed.
Electro fans of unique ambient, electro, tech and deep house tracks will admire Lars Leonhard.  In 2010, Lars signed a label contract at BineMusic in Essen/Germany which cooperates with artists like Move D, Benjamin Brunn, Scanner and Martin Nonstatic. Since his debut in 2010 with the release of his track “Citylights” on the compilation Various Artists/ BineVolume I, he further released till now two CD albums Alben „1549“ and „Seasons – Les Quatre Saisons“ thus a vinyl 12 EP „ No Comment„.
Furthermore, a “yellow clear” vinyl on the label “DimbiDeep has been released with the title „Lars Leonhard / Shebuzzz / Supererde / Grasses Of The Past”.
Additionally, innumerable tracks on several labels have been released. Major part of those are digital releases are available in major Music stores.
The year 2013 has been a milestone in Lars career. The American space agency NASA spotted Lars on YouTube and engaged him on a long-term basis. Several scientific videos what are observed and recorded by satellites were highlighted in music by Lars Leonhard. Two videos of that amazing cooperation of both parties can be watched on YouTube.

Berghain residents Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann link back to Ostgut Ton’s label launch in 2006 with their first studio collaboration in ten years and the extended Phantom Studies, on occasion of the one hundredth O-TON 12“ EP release.

With Phantom Studies Dettmann | Klock channel their first joined releases Dawning (2006) and Scenario (2007) from over a decade ago with their first co-production in ten years. On this extended, 40-minute 2x12" EP Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock parlay their deep personal alliance and musical repertoire through emphasis on new functional Techno as much as hypnotic, melodic and soulful music by thinking outside the box. The seven new, original tracks reflect these attributions by communicating to the needs and expectations of both DJs and home audio listeners, but not neglecting one over the other.

Dettmann | Klock | Phantom Studies

For PD Podcast #019 the two Leipzig-based @holger_records progenies DJ Carpet Crawler 3000 & @brother_louie teamed up. Although they could be described as diametrically opposed characters the two of them are bonded through their joint sense of bizarre hits off the main floor. Therefore it is pointless to try to find a framing genre which complies with this mix that rather feels like a mixtape received as a present from your musically nerdy admirer. Instead of over-conceptualizing things they draw a synergistic picture that’s breaking down the boundaries of time and space while easily reconciling (modular)synthesizers with guitars or world music with NDW; even Grace Jones’ Lovers Rock version of Joy Division’s »She lost control« finds its proper place. To conceal potential irregularities everything is covered with a belting layer of granted Parmesan. Buon Appetito!

Blurry as the night and bright as the stars Mäteriet joins the fray by levitating into the system. They open their gem-covered robe and reveal all the treasure collected throughout their many journeys. The Hon (A1) sets the mood just right alluring us into an almost hypnotized mindset. Moniker (A2) extends the grip Mäteriet has taken around us further over a rumbling bass fit for the system we traverse. Rolling Thud (B1) gives off an almost machine-like air around it, hissing and blowing off excess steam while moving seamlessly between syncopated rhythms. Shine Grooves Acoustic Remix (B2) opens up to a link to the outer reaches of space for B1 and lets Mäteriets work sing, in their own words “my synthesizer and sequencer painted this picture”... and oh what a pretty picture they have painted for us.

Ness is a dj and producer born and raised in Sardinia, acknowledged for his style over a decade of music with a background in sound engineering and many years of research and fine-tuning. He gradually developed a distinct technique with a strong focus on atmosphere combined with hypnotic rhythms. Having performed in some of the most relevant clubs and festivals around the globe, he steadily releases music and collaborates with several renowned techno labels within the scene. With experience as label manager through the years with partnership on Mono Records and The Gods Planet, he later established his spin off project label Ness Reworks in 2018. Ness music and dj set are well accepted and defined as an exploration of wide range of deep hypnotic techno and ambient soundscapes.
