For the first time in label history, Keinemusik is putting out an EP with just remixes. The moniker for this: Doppelgänger. The reason for this: Well, we like remixes and were curious to find out how other artists, artists that we appreciate a lot, would approach our material. Why now, you might ask. Why wait for the catalogue number KM038? See, we just wanted to offer those guys a decent pool of tracks to choose from.

Simple Symmetry are going for Adam Ports I Never Wear Black on Side A, transforming the original into a dramatic ride through gong echoing frenzy and riff-heavy e-guitar emphasis. The originals guitar lead on the other hand gets some synthetic treatment, just to be backed up by spaced out synth melodies and an organic bassline.

The second chapter sees &MEs and Finks gruelling comedown score One On One turn into a meditation over groove, courtesy of Bedouin. The guys are going for a sparse, sophisticated arrangement, opening space for Finks shattered croon, yet raising the temperature after the break into a threatening, string-laden climax.

The closing assignment is handled by Redshape. Hes repositioning Rampas Newborn Soul through his very own dark recourse on Electro-Techno. The producer enigma even more so adds some EBM flavour to his signature sound, incorporating a catchy synth bass and heavy, stomping beat. Floor quaking material indeed.

Pentode is a remarkable and futuristic piece of music composed with special care by Sincopat Kaiser. The thick and hypnotic bass guides you through the song developing the synth melody as one of the solid hooks. From Leeds, Audiojack duo offer a percussive and mature vision with an unbelievable and surprising breakdown. French connection Citizen Kain presents a seductive re-interpretation playing with the synths and even adding more or more. Parafernalia closes the pack with some rough sounds and an epic increase of the volume in the club. Timelessness is the common factor that glues them all.

An iconic figure in the dance music industry, Dousk's "French Sauce feat. eSoreni" was another example of the Greek producer's skill and craft. Proton Music now returns to the title track with remixes from Belarus and the Netherlands.

Belarusian, Mikhail Akulich, has been at the forefront of his country's music scene for over five years with his Michael A moniker and his unique blend of "progressive house and techno, with a minimalist slant". Founder of the rapidly growing, Genesis Music, Akulich has used the label to showcase his own work while attracting a host of star names. A prolific artist, Michael A has over 600 production credits to his name for the likes of Superordinate Music, Balkan Connection and Particles. An established contributor to Proton Music, four original EPs have graced the label's catalogues in a short 12-month period with March 2018's "Aura Tears" showcasing a maturing talent through an EP of the highest quality. A single reworking of Luc Angenehm's "Kaiserkraft" in April 2017 demonstrated impressive remix skills as Michael A returns to Proton with a distinctive and typically impressive interpretation of "French Sauce". A dynamic, floor-filling offering, a fizzing shaker-fuelled percussion line comes immediately to the fore as Dousk's lead motif ripples across the mid-range in hypnotic splendour; the original's vocal sample also prevalent. Evolving smoothly, a new arpeggio lead emerges, coruscating in simple patterns while further melodic tropes present themselves in brilliant fashion atop a dominant, club-oriented beat. The result is a wonderful interpretation, full of craft and musical sensibility.

Hailing from a country with a rich heritage in the dance music industry, Dutch producer, Niels Schilder, has been a revelation with his Malbetrieb production soubriquet. A practician of "deep, groovy house and techno with an innovative progressive flair", Schilder has helped develop his country's underground dance movement through his co-founding of the Klopfgeist label and "Club Paradigm", Groningen. A production career that began in early 2009 has blossomed into a century of production credits for some of the finest modern imprints that includes Uone's BEEF Records, Dave Seaman's Selador and BOg's ATLANT Recordings. Moreover, 2015's eleven-track album, "Life in the Clouds", for his own Klopfgeist, marked another high-point in the Malbetrieb production portfolio. Making his Proton Music debut, the Malbetrieb remix of "French Sauce" is a wonderfully crafted piece that delights with head-shaking percussive groove and intelligent use of original components. Building hypnotically, Dousk's vocal sample features behind strong rhythmic components as a collage of melodic motifs – central to the original – pitch and bend in a richly-layered breakdown before they are reprised in the third movement atop the infectious groove and a host of additional production material.

A pair of remixes from and Michael A and Malbetrieb ensure Dousk's "French Sauce" is still the perfect topping.

German duo @clavisiskey (Manuel Tur and Adrian Hoffmann) return to @freerangerecords to make it a hat trick with their Prodomo EP. 
Here we see Clavis pushing their sound further with a bass-heavy, pared-back approach which manages to fuse a floaty, hypnotic atmosphere with its hard hitting FM bassline and syncopated piano stabs bouncing around the ever pressing groove. This is some big room stuff!

The masterful trio of Timo Mass, Basti Grub and Eric Volta showcase their combined musical muscle on the
latest release forthcoming on supreme Berlin imprint, Mobilee. With an impressive remix package featuring
Rodriguez Jr. and Martin Buttrich to drop in the Summer.

The initial release in May delivers two variations of the title track. Opening with the original mixdown, We Were Riding
High is a sublime summer anthem. Over two years in the making, it’s a lucid after-hours track with an uplifting and
catchy vocal hook that unfolds and develops fluidly. The alternative edit utilises darker synths and drums, whilst still
retaining the positivity that make this track perfect for the coming summer months. This record is the result of Eric
Volta making the demo at an after-party at his studio. He then showed this to Timo Mass who in turn showed it to
Basti Grub who loved the track so much, they were inspired to develop it.
“What started as a night out in Berlin visiting Club Der Visionaire, Chalet and ending in Watergate continued into my
studio on Reichenbergerstrasse at about 9am. One of those fun afters which result in me grabbing whoever is near
me, a little drunk and a little high and just wanting to play instruments, synths - and JAM. As the lyric goes - We were

“A few days later I heard that demo and immediately ask Eric to finish it as it’s so unique and, as it sometimes goes, he
didn’t finish it. I asked him many times, roughly over a period of 2 and a half years until i sat with Basti in the studio,
played it to him and we immediately made a new version, Eric loved it. And here’s the result! We are all super proud of

Two time Grammy nominated Timo Maas has an extensive musical background, spanning over thirty years. He’s
worked with some of the world’s biggest stars including Madonna, Depeche Mode and Fatboy Slim. Basti Grub heads
up his own label, Höhenregler, and is known for his exotic, African-influenced productions. He’s released on some
premium labels including Cocoon, Get Physical, Desolate and Cr2. Born in London but very well traveled, Eric Volta
shot into the spotlight with Love Your Illusion and since releases on Dirtybird, Visionquest, Four:Twenty Re

 In ‘In this Detail’ LOR starts right away with some fancy percussion, while incorporating the classic dramatic synth sound that is recognized across the whole EP. This time making making this track more suitable for a late night set, with elements to get the dance floor grooving. LOR continues to shine on this one, utilizing a reverb heavy hypnotic style of sound design through the track.

German producer Modeplex makes a strong entrance on Steyoyoke with his EP “Kronos Pearl”, a determined and refined 3-track release.

The first track, “Jupiter”, wastes no time establishing the tone, pairing a heavy bassline with distinctive overlaid melodies. It’s versatile, compelling, and makes claim to a place in any techno set.

The title track, “Kronos Pearl”, is a darker piece, combining heavy synths with more experimental sound effects. Driven forward by variations on a common melodic theme, the track fluctuates its focus between higher and lower elements before leading us steadily on to the next track in the EP.

“Hourglass” shows another, more experimental side to the producer – the track follows a pattern of sections that have a layered build and release, falling away to quieter, pared-back interludes. It makes great use of the shifting of moods over time, as each section adds something new whilst pushing and stretching themes that have gone before.

This is an impressive debut on Steyoyoke for Modeplex, showing their versatility not only musically but conceptually. These tracks are strong pieces in their own right, and together show that there is a lot more to come from this producer.
