The Sky Pirates are four otherwise ordinary people and some spectacular facial hair thrown together by chance encounters, random selection and musical theatre in the musical melting pot of modern-day Liverpool.

The Sky Pirates make upbeat music about downbeat subjects - things like missed opportunities and miscommunication; lost loves and leather memories; that one song that's more important to you than anything - with a love of sunshine harmonies, a bunch of cast-iron melodies and the kind of lyrical knack that some people seem to think you just don't get any more (which shows what those people know; most of them probably think 'Maladroit' is a colour).

The Sky Pirates wear suits, and one of them owns a twelve-string. They know what you're thinking, and whilst they appreciate the comparison and have an enormous admiration for what they accomplished as musicians, they don't really think they have much in common with the Records.
