We're going 80s New Wave with this month's release. Modern English released their second single "I Melt With You" in 1982, two years before I entered this world. I couldn't say the year I first heard this song, but I can say that my first listen gave way to a magic that would never go away. It embodies the 80s with its post-punk British bliss. 

The new wave movement received its momentum in the summer of '77. Due to the genre's departure from traditions, a re-birth was taking place. And people were starting to eat it up! Think "My Sharona" by the Knack, Devo, The Talking Heads, and Blondie. I love how Wikipedia reads "new wave vocalists sounded high-pitched, geeky and suburban." Music is always a reflection. It's a mirror of emotions and thoughts of the times the artist is living in. I was too young to see or understand new wave's importance, but nevertheless, I am so happy it happened. Without this movement, I would have never got to hear my all-time favorite, new-wave-influenced band, the Cure. ::drool::

In my experience the 80s, and rolling into the 90s were some of the greatest years of my life. I was young, but it just felt like the world was generally slower and happier. Technology was emerging at a fever-pitch, Nintendo was king, music was boss, fashion was weird, movies were iconic, entertainment was everywhere, in-person relationships mattered, ugh, I miss it so much. Keep in mind, these were my early years and my lens was that of a curly-headed, suburban, well-loved, nerdy little boy.  While everything was transitioning for those who were older, I was swimming in a fresh, unadulterated present.

No need to spoil the feelings of this post with our current way of life. Let's embrace the "good old days" and weave it into our present. I can't think of a better way to do so with my skillset than that of a remix. Relax your mind for a moment and journey with me back to 1982 where I melt with you.

Happy Birthday Rog (my D-50!). 30 this year and still got him.

Not doing my music studies so much these days, am trying to finish my first novel, how cool..?! Was at first meant to be a short ten page story, then it somehow became a 28,400-500 novella. Left it for around four years and then re-started it again last year. Have got to 75,723 words now, hope to reach 90 thou' and then stop. Got the sequel underway in my head, too. Aswell as another 'Space book'. Also, a 'Ghost' story too (based on personal experiences, ooh!). Maybe writing a book is easier to do than learn Mr. Mozart, Ja? (Gotta love ya, Wolfie!).
Can't really write (as you can probably tell from this little piece, I know!). Have Dyslexia and/Or Dyspraxia.  Although haven't had any tests, but somethings going on inside my head. Maybe HDHD too? God knows.
Will keep my finger in, as regards the music but badly need lessons and shouldn't just rely on 'Natural talent'. Just probably get some lessons in 'How to write proper' too. (Joke!).
Title: 'Moon over Earth'. Genre: Sci-fi. Would have to be, wiv a title like that, hey?

Hi, thanks for looking in. What you have here are mainly live Piano pieces, Classical, I guess (with a Jazz style numbers in there, too). 'A soundtrack vision' and 'Variations on a theme' were both recorded using my Yamaha sy85 synthesiser as my control keyboard. The rest were recorded using my Goldstar GMK-49 midi keyboard. 
Update2:
Have been writing, rehearsing playing more with different Piano sounds of late, but did start five or so song ideas (Only to lose them). Then I had two drum tracks (or was it three?) but then lost those, aswell! Have now got three basic drum tracks on the go, using live recorded drum kits and converted into rex files, loops, so I'll try and not lose those, hey? I've now lost them also. "Do what?!" Yes, exactly. Not to worry, I guess.
For now, am enjoying playing my Piano sounds, recording them and seeing what I come up with.
Influences:
Queen, Ultravox, Gary Numan, O.M.D. Jean-Michel Jarre, Harry-Boy (Connick Jnr) Mr. Bowie and a certain 'fabfour' too! Also, RS (Rick Springfield, and early boyhood hero of mine!). The soundtrack fellas, Lalo Schifrin and Ennio Morricone. Oh, and some Classical too. I first played a little J.S. Bach on my old Bontempi organ when I was a lot younger but my style is probably nearer to the 'Classical' era, Mr. Mozart etc. That reminds me, I must look up Haydn soon, too.

Now have Abelton live 9 and a new control keyboard, a Novation Impulse 61.

Equipment:
Roland D-50, Yamaha SY85, Goldstar GMK 49, Novation Impulse 61, Roland TR-626, Yamaha QX5 sequencer, Fostex 160 MultiTracker.
Software: Reason 8ish, Abelton Live 9 suite. Oh and a wee little, tiny of a keyboard (which is actually quite useful!) a Akai LPK 25. There, 'andsome!
With honourable mentions to Cecil, my Casio CZ-3000 keyboard and Basil, my Boss DR-220A Dr. Rhythm drum machine. (Should never have sold them, really).
P.S. Even had quite some difficulty in writing this down, this profile. God, my brain.
Update, yet again. 03:33. 13/01/2022. Still, still trying to finish my book but work keeps getting in the way (am on 'Nights', knackered!). Now have Reason 12, it's good, but I only 'Dabble'.

P.S. Just discovered Deep purple. I know, at least thirty years too late! Lovely!
