I’ve always loved imperfections. They make me feel more connected to whatever it is. Could be a faded polaroid with dust on it, a single cloud in an otherwise clear sky, or a clap that sounds different each time it plays. There’s something about the unpredictability, the raw edges, that makes things feel more real. Especially in music, that’s what draws me in. So when Upperberry reached out, it felt like the right moment to gather tracks that carry that same imperfect energy and to explore my own path through sound, drifting from dub into house. Berlin-based DJ, Cryptofauna steps into the booth this week, tip-toeing her prowess in both digital and vinyl mixing in our very first hybrid set on CENTER BOOTH. Fresh off of a rowdy showcase night at Nowadays with her resident label TILT, she brings us a selection of records she found while perusing shops like A1 and Boom Service in New York, alongside some staple tracks on her USB. It's a thrilling ride to watch her joyfully balance the two mediums.

In Europe she's performed in many of the most notable techno clubs, including Tresor and RSO in Berlin, Club RAUM and POING in Rotterdam, and FVTVR in Paris. She also DJ's alongside Eddie Ness as Epikur, where they are a resident duo at Hamburg club PAL. We're lucky to catch her for the broadcast during a very special trip to NYC. Lock in for a euphoric journey through turn-of-the-century techno by one of Berlin's most exciting up-and-coming artists.

Cryptofauna – Center Booth ◎ S2E10

From Berlin’s underground, CRYME blends the drive of techno with the warmth and joy of house. Friends describe him as “a master of rhythm who plays CDJs like a musical instrument.” A DJ, producer and founder of the House meets Techno label SEVEN, his fast-paced sets build a happy, love-filled dance floor with high energy and big smiles.

Producing since 2022, he has released six EPs and contributed to the Pornceptual 10th anniversary VA. In 2024 he launched SEVEN, releasing uplifting, progressive and minimal house from a roster leaning towards Queer and FLINTA* artists. He is a resident at De Reünie and Pornceptual, and has played for The Third Room, Gotec, Boiler Room, WHOLE Festival and Basement New York. He has toured Asia three times, performing in China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea, made his South Africa debut, and has supported Cinthie, Honey Dijon and Palms Trax.

This mix was recorded at home in Berlin on a rare sunny afternoon. It reflects some of his favourite new and old tracks and is dedicated to his De Reünie family and friends in Amsterdam. For this set he focused on deeper, stripped-back minimal dub and deep house — perfect for a relaxed afternoon with friends, headphones in a coffee shop, a long flight, or a lazy day in the park.

De Reünie Mix Series 007: CRYME

Paris-via-Berlin based DJ and producer Arkan onboards the series this week with two hours fully embracing his deep, hypnosis-inducing mindset and definite knack for shaping streamlined floor narratives. Responsible for a handful surgical transmissions on the likes of Figure and SK_Eleven, in addition to running his own imprints Autonome and Drawner, the French artist keeps carving out a niche for himself at the junction of purely pragmatic, gravity-defying grooves and a certain orientation for experimental-leaning submersion, tailored to maintain techno's intrinsic relevancy and boundary-pushing character when so much material feels stuck in the emulative loop and not caring one bit to opt out the lame-ass continuum. One to keep the adrenaline rushing badman-style, and all brains in the room just as duly, unflinchingly stimulated.
