Somewhere | Till Indy

Piano piece, like a song for piano. I think with more popular/cinematic/jazz harmony influence than other works I posted. Some listeners commented it feels like an older person remembering something from the past. So the name reflects something make-believe from my childhood (which my kid got to do for real :) )

Theory/Performance Notes: Beginner level piano. Lots of seventh chords, and lots of modal phrases for coloring

This piano composition is my reflection on and response to C. Austin Miles' 1913 hymn 'In the Garden'. As I was making a piano arrangement of 'In the Garden' (which is on my album 'Hymn Piano: Grace Resounded'), I learned that Miles tried to describe the hope, joy and excitement that Mary had had in her encounter with the resurrected Jesus from her perspective. In this piece, which I named 'Hope Found in the Garden', I also tried to join Miles' imagination and articulate what was resonating in my thoughts and emotions.
