I have been thinking about making a version of The Box for about 4 years but could never decide on a style for it. It was originally bass and guitar but that just didn't work so I went electronic with it and came up with the speeded up main sequence from there it was pretty easy to decide where to take it. 
Even though this will never be as good as the original, it is at least different. Well I think it is.

Back to Nature

In 1984 we recorded a series of cover versions trying to hone are recording skills but mainly because we liked the tracks and we enjoyed playing them.  All the tracks were recorded on an Akai reel to reel using the sound on sound function so everything is layered and there's no going back to correct mistakes, of which there were many. 
All the instruments where played by myself and Simon Warren, Simon on drums and vocals and me on keyboards and vocals. The beach sounds at the end where taken from a BBC sound effects LP. This version is taken from a cassette so the quality is not as good as it should be.

I saw the Human League in 2016, it was the first time that I'd seen them since before the release of Dare. I'd always liked the darker tracks on the Dare album over the more 'girl meets boy' pop based stuff so when they played Seconds live it really struck just how good it is. 
I decided then that I would make a version of it and hopefully not ruin it.

This is the second time I have covered Being Boiled and much more inspired by the original Human League version this time around.

My first and possibly only Blancmange cover version, the original is such a great song that I really wanted to avoid trying to replicate it. I was also getting fed up with the sing-a-long version that Neil plays live now so for me it was an experiment to see what else could be done with the song.
