This is a song I wrote in 1989, as a gift for a girl-friend on the occasion of a rendezvous we had arranged ten years earlier, well in advance, and perhaps imagining that it would be difficult, after all that time (at a young age ten years seems like an infinite time), to still have meaning in each other's lives. In reality, those two never lost sight of each other.
I produced several versions of the song and obviously don't like any of them anymore today. So I asked @pianofran permission to whisper and to recite the words (I can no longer sing very good) using a beautiful piano composition of hers as the basis (https://soundcloud.com/pianofran/doxology). This is the result. Thank you very much, Francess!

English (very, very rough) translation

at the first stop she told him 'I am almost home,
greet me with a hug a little caress

after a long stop the train threw her into the darkness
Of a desert station a pale refuge
she coloured her hair, lifted her head and let herself be carried
by the night that took her without giving time to breathe

had no particular certainties to conquer
but the journey was still long
and at every town the sky became clearer

'in ten years' time you will have two grown-up children and a big house
a room just for the books and a little of nostalgia
of men by the sea, of women walking in the middle of the road without ever looking around
and when I'll come looking for you
don't offer me rose gardens
or iced drinks'

but presentiments are only false temptations
are dangerous mists at the border crossings
are like pinwheels of secrets,
are images of the evening
are like white horses that wander aimlessly
are the shadow of a restless face

no he will not have his hands tied but two big wings
boxes full of candies and special cigar cases

His silences always full of words
the promises he will have kept
the stakes of every bet he will not have lost

and wear them proudly in spite of the passing years

and on the day of the rendezvous in a city by the sea
they will have no thoughts or particular certainties to conquer
will look around, look for something to tell each other
then they will laugh hard
