We welcome back Jackmaster Flash for an exclusive Mix Ins in 2024. This year marks the 40 year anniversary of a DJ we feel embodies a level of excellence and originality that is hard to match. 

In the honor and spirit of this special commemoration, one might think that an obvious choice would be to play all the cuts and classics of the years gone by, something Jackmaster Flash does effortlessly in his sets to this day. Instead he thought it'd be fun to focus on brand new records, many just released this month. 

After the first few minutes of being lulled in with this smooth sensational sound, you will realize that this is no ordinary House mix. Beautifully blended, masterfully mixed, multi genre, jam packed Jackmaster Flash stylings that are always dosed up in a very psychedelic manner.

It was 2002, Franklin Street in Portland ME, living next to Immaculate Conception Cathedral, and I was trying to get through a narrative of listing Dionne concert videos available on VHS, coming from a handwritten list provided to me by a fellow Dionne fanatic trying to sell me tapes.  DJ JackMF (Clambake Shiva) was there all along, with Casio and sampler accompaniment.  It's a classic example of our improvisational style together, going back to the 80s. Part 1 is comprised mostly of "BelTek Classics", selections anyone who has attended BelTek since the beginning would recognize.

Spinning the Final Set at BelTek was a great feeling for me having been one of the Original Closers for the first few years. It's a very challenging time slot for many reasons; but it was important for me to pay homage to this long running event and its family members. It would be a challenge to appeal to what is now a mix of Old School BetTek heads and the newer generations with all the "changes" in music since.

I wanted that appropriate chill "Sunrise" feeling, but not put people to sleep. It would be even more challenging to still be "exciting" to a very exhausted crowd who had heard everything for the past two days. I wanted to give a nod to those who remember by playing some selections from past years at BelTek, but also play plenty of brand new material as not to forget the pioneering spirit of days past. It also had meaning to me as a Producer being able to play my Original Work for the first time at BelTek, giving an example of how far we've all come since it first started.

Hope those who were there will recall the feeling when they pop this on. To those who weren't there, nothing will replace being there live; but hopefully you can put this on a good sound system, close your eyes and imagine.
