Vertige II is the second compilation to be released on Abîme, gathering tracks from ten artists to explore the Vertige concept with a wider spectrum of intents.  

It features contributions from musicians all around the globe, each of them delivering an interpretation of this ambivalent sensation that could be equally seen as a positive or negative feeling if taken in its plurality of meanings.

Ranging from GIL’ dizzying textures in ‘Storm Petrel’ to the sweetness of Fauness’ guitars in ‘Am I ready’, Vertige II finds its coherence when seen as a progression, a back and forth between fear and love, with each track responding to the previous one by being its deforming mirror.

Vertige II puts the emphasis on vocal tracks, but again doesn’t limit itself to a one-sided approach, and that’s how Lil Asaf’s harsh Jordanian rap can be found coexisting with Flagalova’ anthemic pop and Ptwiggs’ shoegaze ‘Forever is not enough’. 

As the successor of our first compilation, this record can be seen as both a continuation and a rupture in comparison with it. The delicate sound palette of the original opus has exploded and expanded into an ecletic collection of pieces, sometimes frightening and overwhelming, and sometimes soothing and reassuring, as is the Vertige.

The 38th release of katharsis and our final release of 2023 is the prodigious compilation "Embracing Darkness, Absorbing Light" featuring a vast array of artist beloved by the label. Throughout the grandiose line-up of the 36 tracks, the listener is absorbed by various differing interpretations of the theme outlined in the title of the album. Some of the invited artist went full into introverted progressions and meditative sounds, while others focused on aggressive rhythms or anthemic melodies. But even though the styles and techniques of the songs differ from each other, the artists seem to have some commonality in their sonic palettes that binds it all together in a mutual love for music as a healing force of nature <3

Cralias, also known as Dj Animebby, is a Producer/DJ hailing from South London. With a musical spectrum spanning from 70 to 180bpm across both aliases, Cralias delivers a focused blend for ffiles, honing in on the 140-160bpm range. Drawing from his catalogue under both monikers, he curates a mix, featuring tracks from his own repertoire as Cralias and Dj Animebby, alongside selections from friends and influences. MECHA03 is the upcoming installment in the MECHA various artist compilation series launched by the multidisciplinary Buenos Aires TRRUENO collective/label in 2016. After the seminal episodes 01 and 02, the Argentinian outcome will publish the third MECHA later this week, on Friday 6th of November, collecting a remarkable 17 tracks from members of the crew (Bungalovv, Candie, Agustin Genoud, MAAY, Astrosuka, who also curated the mastering together with Sofja, and many others) as well as distinguished guests such as Planet Mu affiliated Ziúr, the poetess and performer Cru Encarnação, and the visual artist Emma Pidré, author of the stunning artwork titled "Obsessed with Demons XOXO 2X2X". 

Reportedly, the main focus of the release is placed on the value of collaborations as a way of gathering and sharing individual outings in pools of collective experiences and sound/visual artifacts. MECHA03 is in fact a rich, multifaceted impression of contemporary culture as seen in the eyes of the label founders and their many associates and friends.

From Astrosuka's masterpiece of hardcore unpredictability (EH!?) to the wild percussions and hi-pitched synth stabs brought by Bosque sin Árboles in Sudaka Rave II, going through the laments of a satanic digital hyper-beast in the form of concréte collage summoned by MAAY (Chaotic Adorable Criatura) and all the other contributions, the compilation is a fresh, stunning gem of rhythmic outbreaks, top-of-the-line sound-art, cutting-edge club music, and thoughtful artistic ponderings.

Today, we're happy to be premiering the fourth track of the various artist comp, called Hypnopompicx. Spanning for a little over 3 minutes, the piece is the result of the joint effort of producer/drummer/singer Tatiana Heuman, aka Qeei, together with the Berlin-based musician and artist dvdv.

The bouncy composition is built around a minimal, lullaby-like melody that is juxtaposed to eerie bass blasts and crawling noises, arranging for a remarkable cinematic component further enhanced by heartfelt, whispered vocalizations. Make sure you're not gonna miss this one, as well as all the other 16 MECHA03 components.
