I Scoured up some long lost mix tapes (REAL cassette tapes!!) recently - from waaaaay back in my very early DJ'ing days (last century stylee, c.1990..something!) when I was a certified and dedicated hiphop n vinyl fiend. Turns out I unearthed a working tape deck too - so decided it was definitely time to digitise these puppies so they didn't get lost forever. 

PLEASE NOTE: Mixing and sound quality may sound a little rough (especially so on the earliest ones - whilst I was still honing my mixing skills) these are digitised versions of one take live vinyl mixes, originally recorded directly to cassette tapes (now very old and degraded)..in me bedroom.

So we were playing ‘Dirty Dancing’ with Dephicit the other day - which essentially involves Summer Bright standing in the centre of the dancefloor whilst we run at her and she holds us up in the air like Patrick Swyaze holding aloft a beautiful swan. After about 6 hours Summer Bright said we were too heavy and could we stop but Dephicit screamed ‘Nobody puts Baby in the Corner!’ and ran at her again. Instead of lifting him up she created another dimension which he ran straight into it and is trapped there on the musical naughty step. South Yard is proud to be back with our third release in which we join forces with 2 of the most prolific artists on the reggae & jungle scene for the main track of the release called "Bring Dem". 

First up we have the mexican Isaac Maya who is touring Latin America at the moment and is going to be touring Europe for the 5th time in the next months. Isaac Maya is the head honcho of Low Frequency Recordings where many of the current producers have started their career in the ragga jungle scene. He´s been playing his music at gigs all around the world for the latest 20 years and he is the main reference in México speaking about drum and bass. 

Daddy Freddy was born in Jamaica and is now based in the UK. He has been in the business since 1985 by releasing loads of tunes including big collaborations from the likes of Dr. Dre, Cypress Hill or Mungo´s Hifi to name a few. Also, he has been known as the world´s fastest rapper on the 90´s. We feel pleased to have this badman on board for our next release! 
This time the duo has created a fat pumpy banger combining dancehall & jungle vibes to blaze the fire on the dancefloor. Amen break patterns and dread bass style lead the track while the dancehall beat comes up on the breakdowns.

Both tunes have been mastered by Loud Dynamics.
