**Production Notes**

Netlabel Remixes for the Disquiet Junto are always nice - in my hands, they tend to become beats ranging from 90 to 120 bpm. This one's 104 bpm.

All the sounds were made from the material provided. The samples were used for all the drums, drumloops and gnarly melody loops. 

Well, I cheated a bit and rendered one MIDI melody / bassline from the original sample material. Ableton Live does that magic trick. Took an 303 wannabe emulation I built several weeks ago in Live. The rest was twisting knobs and trying to get the levels right.

4 hours of work. My ears bleed. Tired now. Good nite.

Last Kiss, Lingering

after downloading and listening to the three tracks (which are all excellent in their own right) I cut  out the bits required and looped parts pitchshifted parts and drank beer.
then i relooped and resampled parts, a bit of panning here and there and more beer eventually I ended up with this, which is exactly what I really wanted in the first place.

happiness is wanting what you have, eh?

**Production Notes**

1. Recorded myself spelling my name (H6). 
2. Extracted the melody of this recording via Ableton. 
3. Doubled it with an 303’is thingie (ABL). 
4. Added some drums and fine-tuned them. 
5. Somewhat frustrated about the harmonic content, I fiddled around with some chords which would fit - that took me half an hour. 
6. Doubled the 303 with some string sound (Reaktor Subharmonic)
7. After that, it was just laying out the music as prescribed. 
8. Mixed and mastered in Ableton Live.

The more often I heard my name the crazier I got.

**Disquiet Junto Project 0186: My Name**


Explore the sonic contours of a word you’ve spelled out loud frequently: your name.

These are the steps in this week’s project, which is a micro-exploration of the techniques employed by the composer Scott Johnson. It’s also about various spectra of repetition.

Step 1: Record the sound of you spelling your own name. Best to do just one word, either your first name or last name — whichever you’ve been more likely to enunciate clearly over the years.

Step 2: Slow the recording just a bit, to maybe 75% of the original speed. Adjust to your own taste, but don’t slow it too much: Your name should still be “audibly legible.”

Step 3: Listen very closely to the segment. Note the melodic shape, the rhythm, the inherent grace moments, other granular aspects specific to how you say your name.

Step 4: Record a short piece of music that emulates those shapes, that rhythm, those grace moments, and so forth.

Step 5: Set a loop of the newly composed piece of music over a loop of you repeating your name. Repeat for between 30 seconds and a minute.

Step 6: Go back and tweak the composed music over the length of the work.

Step 7: Set it so that the volume of you saying your name decreases, so that by the end of the length of the piece your name is no longer audible, with just the music remaining.

Step 8: Upload your completed track to the Disquiet Junto group on SoundCloud.

Step 9: Then listen to and comment on tracks uploaded by your fellow Disquiet Junto participants.

Deadline: This assignment was made in the late afternoon, California time, on Thursday, July 23, 2015, with a deadline of 11:59pm wherever you are on Monday, July 27, 2015.

Length: The length of your finished work is up to you, but a length between one and two minutes is recommended.

Had a few hours today so I deconstructed an improvisation from last week using Ambient V_03, the great SoundParticles and Ableton. The improvisation on a paper towel prepared upright piano, was recorded with a Sony walkman, at the music conservatory where I teach. Added an old (sorry should have made a new one) recording of a bonfire....

Drone prepared in G with DPO wave folded with VCM. Played melodica in G-minor and used PTG as an envelope follower. Never touched the patch once it was set up and all changes derived from pitch and volume of melodica playing.
