mono no aware (もののあわれ) is the first compilation to be released on PAN, collating unreleased ambient tracks from both new and existing PAN artists.

Featuring Jeff Witscher, Helm, TCF, Yves Tumor, M.E.S.H., Pan Daijing, HVAD, Kareem Lotfy, ADR, Mya Gomez, Sky H1, James K, Oli XL, Bill Kouligas, Flora Yin-Wong, Malibu, and AYYA, the compilation moves through more traditional notions of what is called ’ambient’, to incorporating wider variations that fall under the term.

“Mono no aware”, ‘the pathos of things’, also translates as “an empathy toward things", or "a sensitivity to ephemera”. A term for the awareness of impermanence, or the transience of things. A meditation on mortality and life's transience, ephemerality heightens the appreciation of beauty and sensitivity to their passing. In investigating the passing of time, the boundaries between memory and hallucination become blurred; between fiction and reality. The movement of time transforms into an eternal present.

The album is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring photography by Molly Matalon and design by Bill Kouligas. A limited version of 100 copies will be released as a special art edition in collaboration with Mount Analog for the LA Art Book Fair 2017, before going on general release.

Sounding like one of the heroin-influenced mixes created on the fly during one of Ron Hardy’s wild parties at the Muzic Box, Eduardo Unz's 'Dicky EP' is a substantial, yet mental record. Channelling the experimental philosophy found in funk-injected, '80s new wave and post-punk or the records you what you would expect to find under the disco not disco section in your local record store. It’s aggressive, trippy and completely in your face. A hard one not to admire. A record, one could definitely recommend to fans of Levan or Hardy’s edits/mixes. It would be hard not to see why, while ‘The Spell’ exudates classic, stripped-down brutal funk rock character, ‘Sleepwalker’ is drowning in inspired weirdness. From the placement of the synths that swirl at you from various directions and the dub version-like reverb and echo on those drums clapping back at you to the robotic drawling vocals. It’s a truly well-made piece of work!

Ode To A Wompoo Fruit Dove (+ Video)

Nature documentaries of the 1970s used synthesizer music to score messages about species endangerment and environmental disaster prevention. Electronic instrumentation was in itself an ominous warning of the reckless advancement of technology and an effort to audition a utopian harmony between people and machines and nature. 

Photay’s debut full-length ​Onism​ inherits the same historical tension in an age of climate change and social media addiction. It is also a reflection of personal conditions, a meditation on place, community, and its creator’s own embodied history. The word ‘onism,’ invented by John Koenig, means the frustration of being stuck in just one body that inhabits only one place at a time. 

To grasp onism is to be apprised of how little of the world you have experienced, are experiencing, or will ever experience. Photay (Evan Shornstein) composed ​Onism​ in the heart of Brooklyn and shrouded by the silence of national parks or on trips home to the woodlands of the Hudson Valley in between touring the urban centers of foreign countries. Scattered but connected, ​Onism’s​ music is a constellation that rips across the night sky of time, charting an emotional reality defined by sadness and joy, dread and wonder.

The country was a beautiful, sprawling expanse. The land was an elegant golden, green colour in the haze of the early morning sunshine. In the distance there were tall mountains, epic structures with a humbling presence which overshadowed the fields. This was Thailand, a place of seclusion and distant grandeur, a place in which many came to escape. 

Dj Deep releases on Kerri Chandler's Kaoz Theory record label with a new four track EP. The release is a subtle blend of gracious strings, pads and percussion.

BKV013 is 7 inches of infectious, Osaka-matured, aquatic dub from 7FO. 7FO-san has been in touch with Bokeh for over a year and kindly showed them round Kyoto on the BKV Japan world tour (we ate a baby squid that had a boiled egg where the brain used to be - crazy).

This is 7FO’s first proper wax outing after homegrown albums made local waves with his fusion of Japanese new age and dub miniatures. Previous albums also had mastering credits by Bokeh alumni and Osaka mixing desk alchemist Kabamix.

2016 saw 7FO reach wider audiences with Water Falls Into A Blank, a cassette and multi-media project via RVNG Intl’s Commend See series. Bandcamp user Standard Grey summed it up best:

“If Joe Meek lived on to collaborate with Harry Hosono and Inoyama Land and make idiosyncratic dubbed out Japanese Minyo and off-world colony exotica... “

‘Water Vapour’ features the enigmatic Sea Urchin - the duo of Francesco Cavaliere (on FX) and Leila Hasan (on otherworldly vocals). They’ve released an LP for Belgian imprint Kraak and Francesco notched a 2016 highlight with his solo LPs on Hundebiss.

here is a little testing of the Embertone Joshua Bell Violin. This short piece took me about 1.5 hours. I played it in with my masterkeyboard and just edited it a little bit. You even could go deeper with that vsti. I got almost all the solo violins out there these days. This one IMO is the strongest i have ever seen. Check it out!
