Acidic melodies swirl through mystifying soundscapes in Nickon Faith’s ‘Digital Moss’ EP on Manual Smiles, its racy drums and dream-like sonics weaving a story of ancient forests and imposing mountain reaches. The multi-genre Mancunian producer lands on n_o’s 303-heavy imprint following releases on labels like Troubleshoot Recordings while winning the support of notable acts like John Digweed and HAAi.

‘Blue Spider Lily’ is the next chapter of the ‘Digital Moss’ release. Fast-paced rhythms underpin its rich melodies, each element working effortlessly together before FROND takes this offering deep into the underworld with her remix of the title track. The Pollination co-founder and Down To Earth resident takes us through enthralling, swampy low-end, cavernous dub hits and tripped-out acid, faint hints of the original track permeating throughout.

"Just as I had my first rave experiences in the bunker about 10 years ago, i still see it, or would like to see it, as a place where I experience music that I don't normally encounter on a daily basis or that I don't normally listen to myself. I have always experienced the special in the unknown. In the same way my sets are meant to take the listener into a state of novelty and unfamiliarity. Into a deep experience of rhythmic selected music. In this mix, my approach was to create a multi-layered repetitive soundscape but not like techno but from progressiv and tech-house related tracks. This creates a slower but no less groovy experience. The setup were 2x turntables and 2x cdjs - two or three tracks are always playing - always in the mix with constant adjustment and eq sculpting - its rough - hell yeah - but fuck perfection. Having honed a style that has endured over an illustrious career, DMX Krew continues to immerse  his productions in luscious analogue electronica,  touching on the many bases of electro, Detroit  techno, synthpop and dreamwave. 

With previous albums for Rephlex, Permanent Vacation and Balkan Vinyl, amongst others, ‘Spiral  Dance’ becomes the fifth album for Hypercolour,  following on from 2021’s ‘Loose Gears’.

On Rotation returns with the second instalment of its Genetic Memories V/A series, showcasing the diversity of the label’s sound through 4 floor-focused cuts from a spectrum of global talent.

Fresh from dropping an EP with our good friends space:lab, Rambal Cochet delivers a mind-melting A1 to start things off. Deep, tasteful and making full use of his trademark sound design, “Meteora” is one for the witching hour! 

Bolam steps up next with the party-starting “Dream Machine”. Colourful synths sit atop driving breaks, with the peak-time energy dialled up to 11. 

Flipping the record reveals a darker, hazier sound. Moisk’s “GooSE Attack” is reminiscent of long nights (and mornings, and afternoons) in the smoky clubs of Berlin and Amsterdam, while the dark, rolling tech house of “X-Stream” by Aussie heroes Primitive Needs is pure afters’ fodder - a real B2 killer for those who know.

On Rotation is a Leeds-based event & mix series turned label, with 6 genre-defining releases featuring scene stalwarts such as Adam Pits, Solar Suite, Anderson, Roza Terenzi and Hybrid Man, Jamie Leather & more.
