John is a massive satchel. I have the misfortune of sharing an office with him. He keeps insisting that Perfecto Fluoro is a Goa trance label that doesn’t release 140 but guess what? When my back is turned he goes and sneaks a 140 track into the schedule. Honestly – I have never met a more hypocritical bell end in all my life. Still, if John’s style of music floats your boat and you enjoyed his recent productions (Commander Tom “Are am Eye” remix, JOC “Stresstest” remix, Empirion “Narcotic Influence” remix or his single “Shine” etc etc) then I guess you may like this one. 

When I asked John to describe the sound of this record he said “it sounds the same as all my other shit but this time it has the added bonus of people having sex all the way through it”. 

In true egotistical style there are no remixes.

Continuing the run of single releases from Paul Oakenfold’s recent Trance Mission album, we present a cover of what is arguably the biggest electronic vocal record of all time “Touch Me”. Originally by Rui Da Silva & Cass Fox and released in the early 00s the new adaptation by Paul Oakenfold took things in a more chilled direction – but still featuring a completely fresh take of vocals from Cassandra Fox. 

“If ever there was a timeless vocal classic to cover it’s “Touch Me” by Rui Da Silva and Cassandra Fox. Originally released in 2001 this was a number 1 hit in numerous countries around the world including the UK top 40. I adore this record. The lyrics and vocals are so perfect that when it came to make the cover version I knew two things had to happen – firstly we had to try and get Cass to re-sing the vocals (part of the rules of making a cover means you can’t use any audio from the original composition – everything needs to be remade or replayed) and secondly I wanted this to be a really stripped back almost chill out track so that the vocals had loads of room to breathe and take center stage. I love how this turned out and I was so excited that Cass got really involved when she came in to re-sing her vocals. It’s a completely fresh, exciting and emotionally charged take on the original record and I love it. “

Zeds Dead have just released their brand new 5 song "Hot Sauce" EP via Diplo’s Mad Decent.The follow-up to last year’s Mad Decent EP, Victor, features 5 instrumental tracks that find the duo exploring more sonic territory with their music, further proving that they are one of the most versatile electronic groups around. From the opener, “Demons”, a nightmare inducing track with heavy, pulsating synths as well as keys and strings plucked straight from classic horror films to “Mr. Sub”, which displays a more minimalist approach from the duo with a bouncing bass and touches of space-disco synths and “Rave” a breakbeat monster that hits so fast they put in an audible breaths to remind listeners to take one themselves. This is the first time I am releasing an album as a physical product at the same time as a digital version. The second disc of the double CD set contains 13 additional tracks straight off the vinyl acetates that I composed and created in order to make legit sounding samples for A Color Map of The Sun.

Like always, the album is available in its entirety as a free download via prettylightsmusic.com. For the first time however, I encourage you to purchase a copy of the album. There are two honest reasons for this. The main reason is that as an artist I have always reinvested any success I have directly back into the music, the show and the art that goes along with it. Secondly, this isn't just an album; it is a massive collection of music beyond what is on the CDs that I will continue to put out after the album release. There is an insightful documentary film on the making of this project to be released alongside the launch of the album, as well as a music video for every song. They are all beautiful and uniquely unusual pieces of art.

This "album" is a multi-medium map of my mind and my self. It is personal and honest and I put everything into it. I have stayed on the path of being a completely independent musician and with the help of every supporter and friend, we have transformed a simple idea into a movement, a cultural beacon of light. If you can, I encourage you to purchase a digital or physical copy of A Color Map of the Sun. If not simply support by sharing the music and sharing the idea. If there is any success to be had from this album, it will go back into my rule bending, never ending quest to channel beauty and taste through music and art.
