NQ - Our Own Distance

NQ is Nils Quak. It is his second appearance on Neo Ouija after his contribution to the Diaspora Cottage Industry 5 compilation in 2008. With "Our Own Distance" he returns to more beat based music after a couple of ambient releases under his real name. "Our Own Distance" is a testament of longing – euphoric, melancholic, at times naive, yet confident and reflective. A lot of the tracks were produced on long train rides between different cities to shut out the noises on the outside and inside, watching things pass and resonate.
NIls Quak is also part of the STFU collective – a collection of eletronic music artist, who are deeply rooted in the diy-aesthetic, organizing concerts and festivals in different cities in europe.

Tilman Ehrhorn "Past Utopia" is out January 28, 2011 on Neo Ouija. 

Tilman's debut album "Task", influenced by other contemporary electronic artists as well as his background in jazz music, was released on the Mille Plateaux label. On his sophomore album *Heading For The Open Spaces* he turned towards a more or less characteristic ambient sound, working with calm tracks, sounds and atmospheres, that are nevertheless inspired by the funkyness of 70́s jazzrock music. The manufacturing process of his newest album "Past Utopia" is still based on sample work and software but besides the virtual sound design, instruments like vintage analogue synthesizers and electric guitars are used as a source of sound. Most of the tracks on "Past Utopia" are musically inspired through British Pop Music. The beginning of the Psychedelic/Progessive Rock era of the late sixtieśs, including groups lush as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Tomorrow and Yes might be as well a big influence as conceptional productions of the early and mid-eighties, like Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Depeche Mode and Talk Talk. Therefore the idea behind "Past Utopia" is to introduce music that doesn't fit into the stereotypical attributes of electronic music. Instead, Tilman has crafted abstract and modified instrumental pop songs that combine the spirit of different musical epochs with an individual idea of electronic music.

Perplex On is a band from Munich which makes electronic music.
Between Apparat and Tocotronic, Funkstörung and postpunk sounds of raindrops leaking through the cracks in the city, looking for the jumps to reality where dark psychedelic replaces the omnipresent pathos.
The result is on the one hand black metal for digital sleep walkers, but on the other hand dream pop for existentialists. [S.A.W.]
