"Menqui is a Berlin based dj & musician with a remarkably broad interest in music. Besides sharing his discoveries from behind the decks he has also been involved in a variety of different projects. Since 2019 he takes care of the the label called R-i-O along Nadia D'Alò and Benedikt Frey. The three also collaborate together as „Dolphins“. Rumors are that there might even be a connection to the infamous, yet mysterious 'Serious Trouble' releases. Additionally he hosts „Past Forward“ a monthly radio programme on cashmereradio together with his colleagues kryptic dj and hendrik stein."

From his deep roots in the Tokyo underground, he finds himself outside Japan most of the year on his relentless tours of Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. Back home in Tokyo, he is leading the Nu Disco scene in Japan as a founding member of Huit Etoiles.

this is my full set for the first edition of "probleminha 🤏", my new party together with morina, my good friend. i had the honor to play alongside anomalisa (bucht der trauemer), thomash (voodoohop), tin & jubá (quack) and dileo (atemp/sinkro) and had a blast. since i've been experimenting  with faster bpms lately and playing some other genres, for this night i decided to go full downtempo vibes and played some deep and slow tracks, but giving them my touch of chaos still. had a lot of fun doing that, and the crowd was simply INSANE with energy, it was awesome. hope you enjoy!

at first i was in shock with the invitation to play at @namanteigaradio, since it's been many years i wished i could play there someday, and happyy and nervous i was. and for such a special day for me, i decided to make something completely different just cuz i don't really like making it easy for me. decided to take another detour from my most recent sets with faster BPMs to bring a diferent research that mixes some of my downtempo origins with reediting of classics, some psychedellic house and grooves, percussive collages made live, and tracks i have never played but love to listen at home, going around the world thru music till reaching back to the nest of music and humanity themselves in the beats of the batuque of some remixed afrobeats

this is my set for the second edition of Baleárica, and woah that was INTENSE! since the party evokes some disco flavors, and this edition was called verano fatale, i decided to go and have my interpretation of those summer madness with some mashups, loops, and samples to summon that discoish vibe with some italo disco, some remixed classics, a cassius oldie banger, but went on adding my new research on indie dance, house, downtempo, some turkish disco i love, and the nonstop layer of percussions and kick samples to fill the room with energy. the floor was lit and i sure had an amazing time during this gig!

it's been some time i've been going to the editions of baile baile and always loved how the dj/producers both make these both refreshing and nostalgic sets, full of the best kitsch energy possible and when i got invited to play there i thought i could try and play so many of those nostalgic beats i've listened to when i was a teenager so i went full on perrengue and just crammed many of those oldies i always loved and never thought i would ever play so many of them in one single set. from bob sinclair to stardust, from basement jaxx to armand van helden, the teen in me watching those videos on mcm felt really good for that, even though this is a set far from my comfortable zone, it is still very much inside my need to always try to be playing something unexpected. thanks a lot for that, baile baile!
