2024.04.22 DJ JM Grana

James Michael Burgess (July 21, 1953 – January 18, 1993) was a disco record producer and New York DJ of the 1970s. He was openly gay.
The former home of the Paradise Garage on King Street.

He remixed and produced numerous disco versions of popular songs, with a number of them being million sellers. His most successful and best known production was Alicia Bridges' I Love the Nightlife, which has become a "Disco standard". First released in 1978, it went to number five on the Billboard charts, and was given a new lease of life with its use in the 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Other successful productions included:

        Rod Stewart's Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?
        The Doobie Brothers' What a Fool Believes (12" disco remix version) and
        Madleen Kane's Fire In My Heart and Secret Love Affair

He was also a popular DJ at several New York clubs (including The Saint) and was "one of the most influential remixers for the disco era".

Myself and Greg were both busy this week and unable to broadcast, so our good friend Even Funkier took over hosting duties. He delivered an outstanding hour of truly eclectic tunes, covering many genres and tempos.

Greg returned from his holidays to take over hosting duties for this week’s show 23rd August 2024. He was in the mix during the first hour with some new promos, recent releases and a couple of gems from the vault.  @gregmiddleton

In the second hour, we welcomed Steve Tier, aka FunkSupply, as our special guest mixer. Greg met FunkSupply at a couple of London-based events over the past year and really enjoyed an impromptu B2B set with him at @two_moreyears in Hackney a couple of months ago - we just had to get him on the show, so more people could get to hear his sound.

FunkSupply is a Disco / House DJ on the south coast, his sound is influenced by the likes of Folamour, Young Pulse, Kolter and many more. After making a name for himself in his home town of Portsmouth, and starting to break into the London scene, he plans to share his music and vibe with as many people as possible! One things for sure, if he's in the house, the funk will always be in high supply.

London-based DJ and producer Pete Ellison has been spinning music for 25 years and has a passion for funk and disco, blending sounds of the 70s with house beats, vocal samples and chunky basslines.

He broadcasts a weekly show on NDC Radio called the "Feel Good Friday Show", with a special guest each week from the Nu-Disco world. The show won the award of "Best Radio Show" at the OGV Music Awards in 2022. 

He's had releases on Super Spicy Records, Spincat Music, Discoholics Anonymous, Mango Sounds, Discography Lessons, Spa In Disco, Duchesse and Hot Digits. Two of his tracks have hit the Number 1 spot on Juno Download.  

He runs a London DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties. He has played at dozens of London clubs,  and has played at Wilderness, Secret Garden Party, boat parties, woodland raves, Ibiza pool parties and even the dungeon of a French chateau. Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 12-hour set.

Pete is also part of The Disco Waltons, a group of International DJs and Disco Lovers who came together during lockdown through their love of music. They host a Sunday night show on NDC Radio, playing on rotation with special guests

With 30 years’ experience behind the decks - spinning uplifting House, Disco, Edits and more - London-based Greg Middleton is a versatile DJ, from warming things up with laid-back grooves to closing out a night with peak-time floor-fillers. Greg’s sets are fun and nostalgic, yet sophisticated and unpredictable, with rock solid vocals, funky and soulful grooves, layers of organic percussion, and hints of classic house - a nod to his musical roots.

Greg began collecting records and learning the DJ ropes in the early 90s, introducing himself to the club scene spinning House at various nights across the Midlands before moving onto playing at famous London clubs such as SW1 and The Cross.

Over the following decade, Greg broadened his style, heavily influenced the emerging Edits scene championed by the likes of Greg Wilson, Late Nite Tuff Guy and Dr Packer. He then held a three-year residency at the Big Chill Bar (one of London’s long-established venues), where he further honed his skills, reading the crowd and building the tempo while spinning long, genre-hopping sets.

Starting his own regular club night called Borderline in 2018, Greg brought his funky, party vibe to a packed-out, intimate venue in South-West London. When the pandemic hit, Greg took Borderline to the virtual airwaves, doing live streams every Saturday night during the lockdowns, with lively chatrooms and a growing following. The club nights returned with a bang in March 2022, and are going from strength to strength.

As a member of the “Disco Waltons” family, a group of DJs, producers and enthusiasts with a fast-growing reputation, he is currently co-producing the weekly Disco Waltons Sunday Service show on NDC Radio, with guests such as Michael Gray, Richard Earnshaw, Mark Brickman, Jamiroquai's Derrick McKenzie and Greg Wilson.

Greg is also co-host of Pete Ellison's award-winning radio show the Feel Good Friday Show, currently airing weekly on NDC Radio.
