Bio
Fray was originally from the Midlands where he cut his teeth blagging sets with the free party scene in the early 90's. He lived in Brixton, South London where he was resident DJ at Brixtons legendary Dogstar  for 10 years and has been lucky enough to DJ along side the likes of Swayzak, Inland knights, Bent, DiY, Neon Heights. 

His musical policy has changed with his age and he now plays less deep house and more funk, soul, disco, hip-hop and funky breaks.

Fray is currently a resident DJ with Brightons infamous Soul Casserole crew. We have supported the likes of Norman Jay, Craig Charles, Don Letts, Giles Peterson and The Reflex and also have a show on Brightons 1BTN FM.

As a producer he has had many releases that have reached the top of Juno Disco charts on labels such as Katakana, Alpaca Edits, Hot Digits and Masterworks Music with upcoming on Hot Gorilla records and others.

The boys are back in town! Samosa Funk bangs down the door of 2021 and brings us yet another tour of their musical Frescoes to tantalise your ear drums and stimulate your funk nodes. 

First, we visit the Palazzo of Les Inferno where each masterpiece is duly unveiled.  We quite often run out of superlatives to describe Les Inferno's sets. His selections are always carefully curated, whilst the flow and sublime blending of original classics and forgotten gems takes you on a journey very few DJs and producers are capable of. Just let the music take you on this one. Seriously...

Second hour, we move into the Auditorium of De Gama. Straight away, you're in a sonic force field you can't escape from. The tone is set, and we're off on the Samosa Funk highway with a blistering display of diverse sounds, beats and rhythms featuring some of the hottest producers on the scene right now. De Gama also drops some forthcoming bombs from the Samosa Records stable that you just know are going to be huge. 

Samosa Funk consistently raises the bar, and we're delighted to have these extremely talented groovers on board with Black Light Disco.

My first guest of 2021 is Ken Avalon (aka Discoholic Ken), a veteran DJ from Denmark who has been spinning tunes since 1988. In his early days as a DJ, Ken was broadcasting on a local radio show with a keen audience of up to 100,000 people, as well as DJing at local clubs. Today he runs a weekly radio show called “Hot to the Touch”, which broadcasts out of Greece to a terrestrial audience of up to 300,000 people.

Ken also runs the influential music blog discoholicsanonymous.com, which focuses on giving its readers freebies, exclusive content and reviews of the finest releases in the music world.

In the summer of last year, Ken founded an online record label, Discoholics Anonymous Recordings, with releases by talented artists such as Drop Out Orchestra, Monsieur Van Pratt, Pookie Knights, Touchsoul, Lup Ino and Dexter Jones.

With 30+ years of experience, Discoholic Ken builds solid grooves and creates aural journeys that transcend age and ethnicity. His guest mix for FGF is an absolute blinder ;-)

Episode 31: Feel Good Friday Radio Show (special guest Discoholic Ken)

Black Light Disco returns with the flux capacitor on full tilt and the time circuits super-charged. 

Hosting the show is BLD resident Ste Hendry (Esteban), who was tasked with firing up the Disco Reactor and Centrifugal Funk Chamber for the first hour of the show. For the second hour, we had a very special guest joining us for his debut on the show -  the supremely talented Faz. 

Faz, aka Steve Farrell got the love of house music in the mid 1990s and could be regularly heard playing in venues around Chorley and Blackburn in the North of England. As part of the ‘Edits Presents’ team, Faz has played alongside legendary names such as Dave Lee, Spen, Derek Kaye and K Klass. 

Faz's sets are all about Disco, ReEdits, Energy and fun, and it's no surprise he's landed regular spots in the bars and clubs in Manchester, Leeds and Halifax. More recently, he has dipped his toe into production and featured in Masterworks Vol 4 last year as one part of 'F'Funkin Edits' and is looking forward to releasing more tracks in the very near future. Fingerman On Streetsounds Radio (Episode 2) (Part 1) 14/2/21

London-based DJ and producer Pete Ellison has been spinning music for 25 years and has a passion for funk and disco, blending sounds of the 70s with house beats, vocal samples and chunky basslines.

He broadcasts a weekly show on NDC Radio called the "Feel Good Friday Show", with a special guest each week from the Nu-Disco world. The show won the award of "Best Radio Show" at the OGV Music Awards in 2022. 

He's had releases on Super Spicy Records, Spincat Music, Discoholics Anonymous, Mango Sounds, Discography Lessons, Spa In Disco, Duchesse and Hot Digits. Two of his tracks have hit the Number 1 spot on Juno Download.  

He runs a London DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties. He has played at dozens of London clubs,  and has played at Wilderness, Secret Garden Party, boat parties, woodland raves, Ibiza pool parties and even the dungeon of a French chateau. Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 12-hour set.

Pete is also part of The Disco Waltons, a group of International DJs and Disco Lovers who came together during lockdown through their love of music. They host a Sunday night show on NDC Radio, playing on rotation with special guests

As well as Funk, Soul and Disco, he plays Melodic Techno, House and Progressive House
